Natural Habitat Adventures

Kendal Bower

Kendal grew up in Kansas and Iowa where she spent most of her time playing sports or exploring the great outdoors with the neighborhood kids. Summer road trips to visit family in Texas and California sparked a love of travel and experiencing life outside of her bubble. Kendal attended the University of Iowa, studying graphic design and journalism. Not long after graduation, she moved to Philadelphia where she spent many long weekends traveling the east coast from North Carolina to Maine. The Rockies soon came calling and she made the move to Boulder where she began working at Nat Hab in marketing. She now spends much of her free time exploring Colorado’s trails and lakes with her black lab Hershel. Beyond her extensive travel across the U.S., Kendal has been fortunate to travel across North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

My coworker, and travel buddy, Val and I at Chitwan National Park in Nepal.Made a new friend in Bhutan during my visit to the handmade paper factory. The beauty of Bhutan extends from the natural landscapes through to the tiniest of details on buildings and sculptures.Hanging prayer flags in Bhutan.Hiking to Tiger's Nest in Bhutan was the grand finale of my adventure.During our trip, The Hidden Jewels of Zimbabwe & Zambia, we had the pleasure of visiting a local village and school in Zambia. At the school, we each were given a tour of the classrooms by a schoolchild. We had the opportunity to help one classroom with their English reading lesson. Our group made donations to the school, including school supplies and a One World soccer ball. I'm posing with my coworker Val, the Head Mistress of the school, and our Expedition Leader Sam.One of six lion cubs we watched relaxing on a termite mound with two lionesses in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.A giant bull elephant approaches our vehicle while out on a drive in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.Booby selfie! Our first hike in the Galapagos on North Seymour. The birds were everywhere! Our accommodation for the week, the Nemo III, sits in the turquoise waters off Gardener Bay on Española Island—one of the many gorgeous beaches in the Galapagos!Three's company in the Galapagos! Aboard the Nemo III with coworkers Mark Hickey and Ellie Milner. The vivid colors and grandiosity of the glaciers and lakes of Patagonia are a sight to behold. My group was very fortunate to have some amazing wildlife experiences in Patagonia. After dark on our evening ride we had an impactful experience. Softly breaking through the silence of the tundra, two males sparred in the dark. Not being able to see them, only hearing their heavy breaths and grunts, is something that will stick with me.My first trip with Nat Hab was to Churchill. One of my best experiences there was watching a mother nurse her cubs. Here they relax after filling their bellies. My dog, Hershel, and I love to hike in our backyard of Boulder.Hershel and his four-legged office buddies are fortunate to have a great place to walk during the work day.
