Ultimate Kenya & Tanzania Safari

A Remote & Private Experience of East Africa's Most Renowned Wildlife Reserves
Kenya and Tanzania: the very words evoke a bygone era of romance and adventure—seas of golden grass swaying beneath a far-off blue horizon, great herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra traversing the savanna amid rocky outcrops and spreading acacia trees, nights spent gazing into the flicker of a campfire under skies crowded with stars, days on safari beholding the timeless drama of predator and prey, the circle of life, unfolding rhythmically on one of earth’s last, great wild stages. This experience of Africa at its most primal still exists and is waiting to be discovered once more, on our Ultimate Kenya & Tanzania Safari.

Trip Highlights

  • Explore four of Africa’s best wildlife-viewing hotspots on one inclusive itinerary: the Serengeti, Maasai Mara, Lewa Conservancy and Ngorongoro Crater
  • Witness the thrilling phenomenon of the Great Migration as thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle traverse the savanna with predators stealing behind
  • Experience classic safari ambience and superb service at our deluxe mobile camps, situated in secluded areas, often on private conservancies, far from other travelers
Our Ultimate East Africa Safari Stand Heads Above the Rest!
If you’re making a once-in-a-lifetime trip to East Africa…keep these key elements of our Ultimate Kenya & Tanzania Safari in mind as you compare options:

  1. A Rare Secluded Experience, Away from Crowds
There’s no question that East Africa draws a lot of safari-goers. The abundant wildlife in Kenya and Tanzania’s famous national parks and reserves makes them duly popular destinations. That’s why we concentrate on private reserves in these legendary regions, where visitor numbers are strictly regulated. After all, do you want to come all the way to East Africa to see a lion surrounded by 15 or 20 other safari vehicles? You’ll be mostly alone with the animals, when you stay with us on exclusive private concessions that are off-limits to others.
  2. An Itinerary Focused on Peak-Season Wildlife Viewing
We build our itinerary around places where wildlife viewing is superb at the time of year we are visiting. Unlike many companies that operate the same standard itinerary year-round, we tailor ours around seasonal events that determine the best wildlife presence and numbers. A highlight is our own NHA Migration Base Camp, a seasonal tented camp that moves with the migration, offering the best viewing potential on this incredible phenomenon.
  3. Exclusive Safari Activities on Private Reserves
Most safaris stay strictly within the main areas of popular national parks and reserves. We, however, choose remote small safari camps on private lands within the Maasai Mara and Serengeti ecosystem, away from big lodges and roads filled with vehicles. From places like Naboisho and Namiri Plains, we also have easy access to more removed sectors of the parks while also enjoying special privileges not offered in the parks, such as guided safari walks, off-road driving and night drives in search of nocturnal wildlife. Our safari also includes the private, less-visited Lewa Conservancy, with similar special opportunities.
  4. Small Groups Mean Better Wildlife Encounters
We travel with a maximum of  approximately 12 guests. Many East African safaris take groups of 20 or more, wedged into uncomfortable mini buses. Small groups mean we get closer to the herds, have better photo opportunities, and our experience is enriched by more personalized interpretation from our Expedition Leaders as we watch the wildlife action side by side.
  5. Count on a Window Seat & Plenty of Space in Our Chartered Vehicles
On our safari, every guest has a window seat for unimpeded views and photography. We limit the number of guests in each safari vehicle to maximize comfort. In contrast, many other companies use crowded mini buses, which aren't nearly as mobile or advantageous when it comes to getting you close to the wildlife.
  6. See More Wildlife While Staying Closest to the Crater
At the Ngorongoro Crater we stay at Lemala Camp, inside both park gates and closer to the crater floor than any other accommodation in this area. This proximity allows exclusive access to wildlife viewing in the crater early in the day, before others arrive from farther away. And, by late afternoon the big cats start to perk up for nighttime hunts, giving us a chance to see a bit of action after most safari vehicles have started their ascent out of the crater in order to make it through both gates by dusk. Exclusive Lemala is also a very small camp, in contrast to the larger and more crowded lodges around the crater rim.
  7. Enjoy More Comfort Flying to and from the Bush
Many safari companies transport you to and from the bush by vehicle—meaning long, dusty drives over rough roads. We’ve added flights wherever possible, maximizing time for what you have come to East Africa for: wildlife viewing on safari!
  8. The World's Finest Safari Guides
Natural Habitat Adventures is known worldwide for employing the finest naturalists on the planet! In Kenya and Tanzania, rather than using less-qualified local camp guides at each stop or an inexperienced safari guide as a trip escort, our NHA Safari Expedition Leaders are the most highly trained guides in Africa, dedicated to sharing exceptional knowledge and providing highly personalized service. With our groups from beginning to end, our Expedition Leaders average more than 15 years' guiding experience. Their training is further enhanced with resources from WWF’s top scientists. See Expedition Leader bios and traveler comments regarding the quality of our leaders.
  9. Our Quality-Value Guarantee Ensures Your Superior Safari Experience
Natural Habitat Adventures offers an exclusive guarantee, which clearly states that we will meet the lofty expectations we set forth in our promotional materials. To our knowledge, this is the most ambitious guarantee made by any adventure travel company. Read our important promise.
  10. Feel Good About the Way You Travel
We care deeply about our planet, just as you do. When you travel with us, the carbon emissions from your trip are 100-percent offset—Natural Habitat Adventures is the world’s first carbon-neutral travel company.
  11. Natural Habitat Adventures is WWF's Travel Partner
Because of our commitment to environmentally friendly travel, as well as the exceptional quality of our adventures, World Wildlife Fund—the world's leading environmental conservation organization—has named Natural Habitat as its worldwide travel partner, a designation that makes us exceedingly proud!
