The Epic Botswana & Namibia Safari

The Ultimate Southern African Wildlife and Scenic Safari Experience
This is the ultimate southern African safari. A small group of just eight travelers will spend a fortnight crossing a vast tract of Africa’s prime wildlife regions on a journey that evokes the classic safaris of old. Though we stay in out-of-the-way locales where we see far more big game than people, our deluxe tented camps are the apex of comfort and atmosphere in the bush. There is no Africa itinerary that offers more diversity than this; from the Namib Desert to the waterways of the Okavango Delta, teeming with life, we experience Africa at its most primal and magnetic.
  • From the deserts and dunes of Namibia to the emerald swamps of Botswana, lose yourself in the magic of Africa’s wondrous diversity
  • Classic game drives alongside our safari Expedition Leaders offer superb animal encounters in the best wildlife-viewing areas of these two contrasting countries
  • The finest small-group luxury bush camps in remote and secluded areas offer the optimal
    safari experience
Location of Adventure
Botswana and Namibia

Group Size Limit
Approximately 8 Travelers
A very important feature of this African safari is the limited group size as a guided tour is best experienced with a small group of travelers.

Our Specialized 4 x 4 Land Rovers or Land Cruisers
An essential element of this safari is our use of a combination of specialized vehicles during different parts of the trip, allowing for the unmatched game viewing opportunities promised by Natural Habitat Adventures. At times, we will travel in semi-open-sided 4 x 4 Stretch Land Cruisers or Land Rovers, allowing for enhanced game viewing and a comfortable and safe ride over the sometimes uneven terrain of Botswana and Namibia's desert and delta environs. Roof hatches add to the open safari experience, while additional comfort is ensured with secured drop-down plastic flaps used during longer transfers to provide respite from dust or rain. We will also use open 4 x 4 Land Rovers or Land Cruisers, with a unique suspension system and an open-top, open-sided, tiered seating arrangement, specially-designed to maximize game viewing opportunities and comfort. During our time in the Sossusvlei region, we will explore in closed 4 x 4 Land Cruisers or Land Rovers to provide protection from the winds that are possible in this vast, sandy landscape.

Both the open and semi-open-sided vehicles have 10 cushioned passenger seats, one in front next to the driver, followed by three rows of three seats each, though we limit our capacity to just eight travelers, again for maximum comfort and viewing. The closed 4 x 4 vehicles have 8 cushioned seats with a spacious interior providing generous room for travelers and their belongings.  All offer a mini-fridge stocked with cold drinks and a small library with reference books and field guides. Each custom-built vehicle sports front bull bars and runner boards, as well as a full recovery kit, including spare tires and a high lift jack. Vehicles are updated or replaced regularly and meticulously maintained to provide our guests with an unmatched safari experience.

Physical Requirements
Easy
Our walking activities are usually short and optional. We do, however, recommend that travelers who participate in these programs be of an adventurous spirit, as they will often enjoy the very closest of animal encounters and safari vehicles can sometimes offer a bumpy ride. A number of game walks will be offered.

Important Information
On this trip we have combined the highlights of Namibia and Botswana within one ultimate safari itinerary. We recommend this trip for guests who want to make the most out of their limited number of trips to Africa - we travel from desert to delta to sea! Most transfers on this itinerary will be done by air, although we have retained a few drives in order to reveal the breathtaking scenery and vast expanse of the land. As usual, our outstanding Expedition Leaders tie the entire safari together for a most memorable experience.  On this safari, we will have one Expedition Leader for the Botswana portion of the trip and another for the Namibia portion.

Getting There & Getting Home
For departures that begin in Windhoek, Namibia, you must arrive there by 6pm on Day 1 and you may depart Livingstone, Zambia anytime after 1pm on the final day. For departures that run in the opposite direction, you must arrive in Livingstone, Zambia by 3pm on Day 1 and you may depart Windhoek, Namibia anytime on the final day.
