Hidden Jewels of Zimbabwe

A Rare Treasure for Safari Aficionados — Discover Some of Africa’s Richest Wildlife Enclaves!
On safari in the lightly visited national parks of Zambia and Zimbabwe, touch the African wilderness as it existed over a century ago—a vast, raw landscape of powerful rivers, floodplains and rocky escarpments brimming with animals, including huge herds of elephant and Cape buffalo, great pods of hippo, and rare wild dog and rhinoceros. Zambia and Zimbabwe offers some of Africa’s most prolific and diverse wildlife viewing, as animals congregate in great numbers in the Hwange region and along the Zambezi River in Mana Pools. They also boasts some of the best guides in Africa—many are seasoned leaders of walking safaris that offer remarkably intimate encounters with the natural environs.

Trip Highlights

  • Our itinerary is exceptionally comprehensive, with visits to three national parks that showcase more of the diverse natural highlights of Zimbabwe and Zambia than most safaris offer
  • Experience some of Africa’s densest concentrations of wildlife, interpreted by legendary guides who know these remote regions like no other
  • Stay at small, intimate safari camps in utterly secluded locations—a chance to experience a rare immersion in some of Africa's last true wilderness
You Won't Find a More Impressive Zambia & Zimbabwe Safari!
Though much of Africa is still untamed, it’s become harder to find a safari experience that evokes the sense of isolation amidst raw wilderness that early explorers first encountered. Zambia and Zimbabwe are among those rare places. While you’ll find other operators who offer safaris here, no trips that we know of are as comprehensive and intimate as this one, with the utter immersion in the wild that we provide. Take a closer look:

  1. We Show You More of Zambia & Zimbabwe’s Wildest Realms
This optimal itinerary has been designed in conjunction with WWF to provide a secluded and superlative experience of these two less-visited safari countries. Our carefully crafted route reveals a tremendous diversity of wildlife, habitats and dramatic landscapes—much more than you’ll typically find on any other Zambia or Zimbabwe safari.
  2. Maximum Group Size Just 7 Travelers
Any African safari is better with a smaller group, and we run this trip with just seven guests, offering each guest a window seat on wildlife drives. Such small numbers foster a much more intimate experience in the bush, as well as the opportunity to stay at smaller camps in more remote settings.
  3. Stay in Seclusion on Private Reserves
Rather than staying in areas where visitor density is higher, we retreat in isolation on private reserves wherever possible, with small-scale accommodations set amidst a profusion of wildlife. Yet we don’t lack for comfort: We also choose the highest-quality camps available, many offering surprising luxury that belies their remote locations.
  4. Explore Three Different National Parks
Most Zimbabwe safaris include a visit to the country’s flagship Hwange National Park, less frequently to Mana Pools, and occasionally both. Our itinerary not only includes more remote sectors of these two treasures (Mana Pools is a UNESCO World Heritage Site), but we also visit the wildlife-rich plains of Kafue National Park just over the border in Zambia, a rare inclusion on most Southern Africa itineraries.
  5. Enjoy a Diverse Slate of Activities
While classic game drives offer plenty of exhilarating wildlife viewing, we know how much silent, eye-level encounters can enhance your overall safari experience. That’s why we include a diversity of activities, from boat and canoe excursions to guided bush walks—a special feature on your safari, featuring interpretation by some of Africa’s most renowned walking safari leaders.
  6. Chartered Flights
Chartered flights (rather than long drives over rough dirt roads) between safari locations allow us to spend more time actually participating in safari activities, rather than in transit.
  7. The World's Finest Naturalist Guides
Our guests enjoy the personalized service of some of the best-trained, most experienced naturalists in all of Africa—a Nat Hab hallmark. Your NHA Expedition Leader will accompany your group from start to finish, ensuring a superior safari experience. Our guides average 15 years' experience, with additional training and resources provided by WWF’s top scientists. Our philosophy on this is simple: an African safari is only as good as the guide, so we provide the very best! See Expedition Leader bios with traveler comments regarding the quality of our leaders.
  8. Our Quality-Value Guarantee Ensures Your Superior Safari Experience
With Natural Habitat Adventures, you receive our exclusive guarantee, which clearly states that we will meet the lofty expectations we set in our promotional materials. To our knowledge, this is the most ambitious guarantee made by any adventure travel company. Read our important promise.
