Botswana: Kalahari, Delta & Beyond - New Itinerary!
Witness the spectacle of Botswana during the green season as wildlife thrives and new births fill the plains.
Trip Overview
- Experience the Kalahari during its seasonal rains, when water is a magnet for desert game
- Canoe the emerald marshes of the Okavango Delta, teeming with unique species of birds and mammals
- Enjoy spectacular and lively game viewing as new births fill the plains and predators abound
Botswana’s “green season”, its most productive and colorful time, offers natural spectacles most travelers miss. Low, sporadic rains in the Kalahari mark a time of dramatic change, signaling a great influx of migrating wildlife and plains game births. The Kalahari’s high game concentrations and expansive open vistas make this African tour one of the best for cheetah viewing in southern Africa. Vegetation springs to life on the bleached plains of Deception Valley, attracting herds from all over the expansive reserve. In the Okavango Delta to the north, specialized mammal species like sitatunga and red lechwe thrive. The Savuti is superb for wildlife viewing, as stable populations of lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog are active amid a wide range of diverse habitats. Natural Habitat Adventures’ Botswana safari provides a rare glimpse of the natural abundance of the Kalahari during its seasonal rains. Take in lively wildlife encounters from the plains to the delta on this unique African tour.
