Yosemite Valley Explorer

Accommodations

Tenaya Lodge
Location
Fish Camp, CA

Located just outside the south entrance to Yosemite National Park in Fish Camp, Tenaya Lodge is a AAA 4-Diamond resort offering mountain-style elegance in the Central California High Sierra. The lodge enjoys a magnificent setting, surrounded by ponderosa pine forest with trails right outside the door. But the property is so inviting that guests may not want to leave the site, with its expansive view terraces, two swimming pools, Jacuzzi pools and world-class Ascent Spa. Architecture and interior decor complement the natural setting and regional history, with extensive use of wood, stone, rustic chandeliers and Native American motifs. Rooms were given a major facelift in 2016, updated in warm tones reflecting the park’s natural features. Our accommodations inside the main lodge building are in spacious 350-square-foot premium rooms with two queen beds and deluxe bathrooms with sleek granite countertops. All rooms have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat screen TV, writing desk, safe, fridge and coffee machine.
Rush Creek Lodge
Location
Yosemite National Park, California

Located on the doorstep of Yosemite at the west entrance to the national park, Rush Creek Lodge offers rustic luxury in the Sierra foothills. Built in 2016, it is the newest property in the region, yet its warm wood architecture evokes the classic mountain lodges of a century ago. The lodge occupies a 20-acre wooded setting, and each room features a private deck looking onto the natural environment. Guest rooms are 400-square-foot air-conditioned studio suites with separate sitting area, one king or two queen beds with high-quality Sealy mattresses and hypoallergenic feather pillows, a spacious private bathroom with large tiled shower and Earth Therapy bath products, custom artwork, furnishings and decor in warm colors, Keurig coffee maker, tea kettle, mini fridge, electronic safe, and an Alexa entertainment system. With a nod to retro ambience, rooms have classic games like Scrabble, Yahtzee and Dominoes but no televisions – however, a big screen TV is available in the Tavern for watching major sporting events. Complimentary Wi-Fi is included in guest rooms and throughout the property.

Hearty mountain fare, craft beer and fine wines are served in the restaurant, while the pool bar features a regular barbecue rotation. The Tavern offers lighter meals and small plates. If time permits, check out the Spat at the Lodge, featuring a granite waterfall mineral hot tub and warm river rock beds in the covered heated outdoor lounge. Indoors, relax in the waterfall coves, aromatherapy steam room and Himalayan salt block sauna; refresh with a cool mist shower; or sign up for a massage or yoga session. The Fitness Center offers a full complement of cardio equipment. The Lodge is famed for its 2,400-square-foot heated saltwater pool, and each night s’mores are served under the stars around the cozy fire pit that overlooks the pool area. Two hot tubs round out the pool offerings.

Your stay at Rush Creek Lodge is made even better by the property’s commitment to important social and environmental goals. Eco-conscious practices include local sourcing of organic food and native plants for landscaping; conserving energy and resources via low-flow water fixtures, gray water recycling, solar heating and high-efficiency lighting; reducing waste with a grassroots recycling program and compostable cups/packaging; using eco-friendly cleaning products; and educating guests and staff about Yosemite conservation issues. As a result of these practices and more (including hiring local staff and offering internships to urban youth), Rush Creek is a certified B Corporation, a for-profit business that is designed for long-term sustainability, putting the health of communities, environment and staff on the same level as the health of the bottom line.
