The prairie reveals itself slowly. Far less dramatic than the towering Rocky Mountains that create the western boundary, the Great Plains have played a critical role in the natural and human history of the United States. This vast, expansive grassland was once home to 60 million bison, a population more than 30 times that of the wildebeest that take part in East Africa’s much more famous Mara-Serengeti migration. Today, only about 2% of native prairie grassland remains intact, and WWF’s Clay Bolt and Dennis Jorgenson are working to preserve and expand what is left. They work with farmers, ranchers, politicians and communities to develop methods to continue to use the prairie in a sustainable way that leaves it intact for the abundant wildlife and the people that rely on it. Join us for this webinar to learn about Clay and Dennis’ work and the surprising biodiversity of America’s Great Plains.
