Let's be honest: most of what you hear about China in the U.S. press is not particularly positive. But put aside geopolitics and you'll discover a captivating place that is very different from most preconceived notions. In fact, for Expedition Leader Brad Josephs, no place tops China when it comes to the destinations he most loves to share with our guests. Brad calls China "an unlocked treasure chest of history, botany, wildlife, landscapes...the most unknown and misunderstood place for Westerners on Earth," with the friendliest people he has ever met. In Sichuan Province, where Nat Hab's Wild Side of China adventure takes place, there are myriad natural wonders for the explorer in search of less-traveled paths. Its giant pandas and bamboo forests may be well known, but few know about the pristine Minshan Mountains, lush gorges cut by raging rivers, exotic wildlife unique to this region like shaggy takin and golden snub-nosed monkeys, or ethnic Tibetan villages adorned with prayer flags. This secret realm is also replete with rich cultural history and fabulous cuisine that is an unexpected highlight. Brad has pioneered nature travel in this remote region of China since 2008, and you'll find no better guide for this virtual journey where joyful discoveries await.
