Rwanda is renowned for its thriving population of endangered mountain gorillas. Their growing numbers are one of the world’s most important conservation success stories, and Rwanda continues to increase gorilla habitat through reforestation. Yet there is more to this small country when it comes to wildlife tourism, and Expedition Leader Craig Glatthaar is here to tell you about it. Rwanda offers a world-class savanna safari experience as well as wonderful chimpanzee encounters via an inspiring habituation program. Craig shows how conservation travel works powerfully to benefit communities, wildlife and the guest experience. Learn how the ecotourism model can preserve and recover wild places, sequestering biodiversity that ultimately helps secure our own species’ survival on Planet Earth. Craig, who hails from South Africa, has an academic background in conservation science and guides safaris throughout Africa. Passionate about the intersection between conservation and commerce, Craig is an advocate for ecologically guided safari tourism. He is also keen on the role of canines in conservation and is pursuing research on the use of livestock guardian dogs to encourage predator/farmer coexistence.
