You know you want an epic mountain adventure, one that features lots of ice. You know Alaska and Patagonia deliver on a grand scale. But you have to choose one (to start with). So how do these two legendary wilderness destinations stack up? Expedition Leader Daniel Hagaman is with us to explore that question. He’ll compare and contrast Alaska with Patagonia, giving you detail and insight into these two vast, rugged realms at the northern and southern ends of the Americas. Although they are located on the opposite sides of the earth, Daniel reveals that the ecosystems found in Patagonia and Alaska are actually more similar than different. We’ll look at the varied landscapes each region encompasses and how the terrain was formed. Get acquainted with the wildlife you’re likely to see, from Alaska’s moose, eagles and brown bears to Patagonia’s guanacos, condors and pumas—and whales in both places. Learn, too, about conservation challenges each region faces. Daniel has used his skills as a naturalist guide and educator in Chile, Bolivia, Alaska and New Zealand, and he has lived and worked seasonally in Latin America for more than 30 years.
