New Year, New Skills: Understanding Your Camera’s Menu Settings
Today’s digital cameras have more advanced computers within their tiny frames than what the CIA was using to operate its global surveillance programs a couple of decades ago. Intelligent auto-focus, advanced metering, 59-point focus zones, time-lapse intervalometers, and so many more features are now embedded deep within your camera’s menu system. Frankly, it can be overwhelming to think about how to tap all these assets when you just want to take a quick photo of the sunset from your driveway. But our resident photography pro, Court Whelan, makes it easier with a detailed overview of the many features nearly all digital cameras have available these days, and lessons on how to use them to get your best photos yet as we enter 2021. From choosing the right metering mode to how to deal with ISO, from scene selections, to JPEG vs. RAW, to the different types of auto-focus, this is a crash course in digital camera use to take your photography to the next level.
