Madagascar: A Virtual Journey Through an Evolutionary Wonderland
Often called the 8th continent, Madagascar is a land like no other. The world’s fourth largest island, it broke away from the landmasses of Africa and the Indian subcontinent tens of millions of years ago, giving rise to unique species that exist nowhere else. Madagascar teems with biodiversity. Its varied wildlife includes more than 100 species of lemurs, 67 species of chameleons, and hundreds of colorful and intriguing birds, insects and amphibians. The diversity of Madagascar’s wildlife is matched by its contrasting array of ecosystems and habitats, and in fact, they are intricately related. Court Whelan takes us on a virtual expedition through Madagascar, revealing its intriguing creatures, plant life and geological backdrops that create a nature travel destination without peer on Earth.
