What’s it like to watch a pride of lions living in the wild over the course of more than five years? Expedition Leader Richard de Gouveia has been observing and documenting the activities of a single lion pride living in South Africa’s famed Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve since 2015—almost half of his career as a professional safari guide. He has gained a familiarity that few humans are privileged to experience, watching this lion pride grow to more than 30 individuals, and witnessing many of their trials, triumphs and tribulations along the way. This webinar reveals a whole new perspective on the ever-changing social hierarchies and dynamic relationships between and among groups of wild lions. Learn from Richard’s firsthand experiences with the different roles of lions and lionesses, associations between relatives, cubs, and adolescents, feeding and breeding patterns, and ongoing battles for dominance and survival. You’ll get a greater understanding of how the most social members of the big cat family interact with each other and their wilderness environment.
