Meet Tyrhee Moore, a mountaineer and outdoor education advocate born and raised in S.E. Washington, D.C. Tyrhee, whose climbs include Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua and the first all-African-American ascent of Denali, is a national leader on promoting diversity in the outdoors, speaking around the country about the “adventure gap” and conservation leadership. Tyrhee is the founder of Soul Trak Outdoors, a non-profit organization connecting urban communities of color to our planet’s green spaces. Soul Trak serves a wide age range of under-engaged groups, from urban youth, college students and city professionals, helping them find exciting adventure opportunities through outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, paddling, biking and many others. He’ll talk about the path that led to his work with Soul Trak and its mission to create a more inclusive natural environment for Black and Brown people. Hear about Tyrhee’s early encounters with the wild, how he became a mountain guide and adventure athlete, and finally returning home to Washington DC where he is working to build a bridge to nature for urban residents.
