In the third and final installment of this series on gray whales, Annie and Sofia follow the whales’ spring journey north to Alaska, where they spend the summer feeding in the Bering Sea. Males are the first to leave the sheltered lagoons of Baja’s Pacific coast, followed by the mothers and babies who spend a few extra weeks getting ready for the 5,000-mile-plus journey. Learn about the whales’ feeding ecology, how their food supply is being impacted by climate change, and hear the results of current research that offers insight into the behavior and well-being of different gray whale populations. And to pique your interest further: Annie and Sofia will also discuss what coronavirus has to do with gray whales. Tune in to find out!
