Vedant Thite2022
Vedant developed his love for animals in the hills around Pune, Maharashtra, India. A visit to Ranthambore National Park sparked his awareness of habitat loss and poaching, prompting him to volunteer at a local zoo. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in tourism from Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi while leading youth ecotourism trips. He has since contributed to scientific research and publications on leopards, striped hyenas, rusty spotted cats, Asiatic wild cats and Indian hedgehogs.
Vedant guided safaris in Tadoba National Park before becoming a naturalist at SUJAN JAWAI, a luxury camp in Rajasthan. There, he collaborated with the Discovery Channel on Jawai: India’s Leopard Hills, helped develop a research division, and conducted camera trap studies on leopard movement. He also worked with local communities and the Rajasthan Forest Department on wildlife rescues and education initiatives to reduce human-wildlife conflict.
A passionate wildlife photographer since childhood, Vedant learned on an analog film camera and later honed his skills with DSLRs and mirrorless systems. He documents animal behavior and habitats through his lens, contributing to magazines and articles to raise conservation awareness. His award-winning images have been published internationally.
Vedant joined Natural Habitat Adventures in 2022 and began pursuing a master’s in environmental science in 2023. He leads trips across India, Nepal and Bhutan, combining scientific insight, field experience and deep regional knowledge. He lives in Pune and is also a PADI-certified advanced and rescue diver.
