Experience in the adventure travel industry is helpful for many of our positions. However, we also welcome candidates with experience in other relevant fields such as sales, operations, communications, finance or marketing, with transferable skills to meet our needs. Corporate Controller
Natural Habitat Adventures (Nat Hab), based in Boulder, Colorado, is a nature-focused adventure travel company currently seeking an experienced professional for the role of Corporate Controller. Reporting as a public corporation under our parent company, Lindblad Expeditions, Nat Hab also has two subsidiary companies – DuVine Cycling & Adventure Co. and Off the Beaten Path – reporting to it. The Corporate Controller will report to the CFO/COO and work closely with the parent’s and subsidiaries’ accounting teams. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for the accounting, financial management, financial analysis and reporting, and risk management functions of Nat Hab and its subsidiaries. The essential job functions are listed below.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Manage all accounting functions ensuring timely, accurate and complete monthly financial statements; responding to internal and external auditor inquiries
  • Updating and implementing all necessary business policies and accounting practices; Consolidate subsidiary financials
  • Drive internal control initiatives at Nat Hab and subsidiaries
  • Assist CFO/COO with compliance and risk management, and managing cash flow and currency hedging program, and be a controlled layer for invoice payments and approving semi-monthly payroll
  • Assist CFO/COO with financial management by managing the following: banking relationships, establishing and maintaining KPIs, vendor management
  • Oversight on inter-company account reconciliations
  • Integrate financial reporting of new subsidiaries, properly structuring inter-company accounts between companies
  • Project manage effort to migrate subsidiaries from QuickBooks into Great Plains
  • Hiring, training and leading accounting staff
  • Support CFO/COO with Board decks, budgets and analysis

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university required
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in accounting field, with 3 years as Corporate Controller, preferably at a public company, and working knowledge of SOX compliance
  • Experience working with Great Plains and Management Reporter
  • Proven organizational skills with eye for detail and excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Merger & Acquisitions integration experience
  • Must have excellent communication and leadership skills
  • CPA Certification preferred but not required; audit background a strong plus

Compensation commensurate with experience:
Base Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 plus annual bonus

 Operations Coordinator
Natural Habitat Adventures (Nat Hab), based in Boulder, Colorado, is a nature-focused adventure travel company currently seeking an Operations Coordinator. The Operations Coordinator is a member of our Adventure Operations team, the department that coordinates all logistics behind each trip Nat Hab operates around the world. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring partners and field staff have the information they need to provide the optimal guest experience on every departure.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review, compile and send departure-specific information to Nat Hab's in-country operators, contracted partners (hotels, restaurants, service providers) and Expedition Leaders. Most communication is done via email working extensively in our CRM software (FileMaker Pro). Guest information includes passport details, flight itineraries, medical/dietary information and special requests.
  • Act as a resource for in-house Adventure Specialist and Guest Services colleagues regarding trip-specific information such as itinerary, accommodations, meal or transportation details. 
  • Help organize select program details and logistics for destinations around the world while working intimately with a team of Destination Managers and Adventure Directors. Logistics include scheduling and confirming restaurant and activity reservations for select programs, coordinating transportation needs, securing national park permitting, Expedition Leader and field staff flights, and the management of room releases with individual properties and operators.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Expedition Leader training retreats locally and around the world.
  • The position may include other responsibilities and opportunities not listed above.

 Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years' experience in a logistics/operations-related role is highly preferred.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented; able to prioritize and efficiently manage multiple tasks, consistently meeting scheduled deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable working effectively with a variety of partners in our office and around the world.
  • Enjoys adapting to new priorities and deadlines in a high-paced and fast-changing environment; able to excel working both individually and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Excel is preferred.
  • Computer database software experience is a plus (or the ability to learn quickly).

Compensation

  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Salary: $50,000 plus annual bonus.

Eligibility for medical insurance, participation in 401(k) with company match and parental leave after a predetermined period of time.
  • This is a full-time, exempt position.

Travel

  • In addition to the benefit of having 2 weeks of annual site inspection on Nat Hab trips where one is a participant on a scheduled program, the Operations Coordinator may be required to travel approximately 1-2 additional weeks a year in order to build field knowledge and rapport with partners around the world, as well as to facilitate and execute regional Expedition Leader trainings.
  • Remote employees would also be expected to attend 3 to 4 annual day-long retreats in Boulder, Colorado (retreats are currently suspended due to COVID-19). Staff may also be required to come to the office at other times throughout the year.
