Tracy Schuh

Tracy grew up in San Diego and spent summers camping and boating on the Colorado River in Arizona, Nevada and Utah. Always more comfortable being outside than indoors, she enjoyed the good weather that allowed her to pursue outdoor adventures year-round, sparking a deep appreciation for nature. From the sound of waves crashing on a beach to the stunning red rock formations in the desert and the sky's color show at sunset, Tracy soaked it all in with amazement and exhilaration. Tracy has always loved animals, too, and her love of wildlife was cultivated through her proximity as a child to the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park, where animals roam freely in vast enclosures on 1,800 acres of land. She has vivid memories of riding the Africa tram and being awed by the diversity of animals living together.

Tracy’s love of nature, especially wildlife, fueled her decision to get an ecology degree. Wanting to pursue studies related to conservation, she became an environmental scientist to help protect our beautiful planet. She spent 15 years working for environmental consulting firms specializing in contaminated sediment remediation. Yet ironically, it was a career shift into web development that led her to Nat Hab, the kind of company with a dedicated focus on conservation that she always wanted to work for!

Tracy has traveled extensively within the U.S. as well as to Southern Africa, South America, Canada, Mexico, Europe and the Caribbean. Benefiting from the value of firsthand travel, being up close and personal with nature in various parts of the world, has fed Tracy's passion to protect it.  Tracy lives in Kennewick, Washington where she enjoys running, paddleboarding, hiking, swimming, and kayaking.

At Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia, hanging with Aunt Sally and rhinos. In Botswana, we had a sundowner with some sleepy lions on the last night of the trip! We had lunch with elephants on the Chobe River. Cheetahs resting in the shade after a successful hunt in Botswana. Have you hugged a cactus today? Some get huge like this one on Santa Fe Island, Galapagos. Our first Galapagos marine iguana friend on Fernandina Island, Galapagos! The most beautiful sunset behind a treehouse at Nat Hab’s Tortoise Camp on Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos. Lake Mohave on the Colorado River is on the border of Arizona and Nevada. I spent many summers boating, camping, and swimming here. Hiking Storm King in Olympic National Park, WA. A climb to 4500 ft to soak in the view of Lake Crescent, a 624 ft deep glacier-carved lake. Worth every step!Sedona, AZ is one of my favorite places in the U.S. The red sandstone sprinkled with greenery and creeks is just so beautiful. At the top of Cathedral Rock in Sedona with our feet to provide visual perspective of the vast valley below.Cross-country skiing at Stevens Pass, WA with a buddy. A friend and I rented a boat to explore the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, a great way to see the uniqueness each island has to offer. The Virgin Islands is one of my happy places. The clear turquoise water and warm tropical breeze are just so conducive to relaxing. This is Jost Van Dyke, one of the British Virgin Islands. Our reward after a week and a half of long sampling days in Victoria Harbour, Canada was this beautiful sunset behind our sampling vessel. Epic.
