Alex Hopkins

Augmenting Nat Hab's tech support staff, Alex is a junior front end web developer. And while her day-to-day work may involve computers, her passion for travel makes her a perfect fit for the company culture. As a child, Alex’s family bounced around a lot, moving from California to the United Kingdom, back to California, then to Washington, and finally ending up in Nashville, Tennessee. After high school, Alex moved to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado where she majored in International Affairs and double-minored in French and Technology, Arts, and Media. It was the latter program that cultivated her interest in graphic design and programming. On completion of her degree, Alex pursued a career in graphic design but yearned to combine strategic design with her love for math—so she went to software engineering school to learn how to code.

Not long after, Alex landed at Nat Hab, a move she calls "the best thing I could have asked for," since her job combines her career focus with her personal interest in travel, which was cultivated as a child. Her parents put a huge emphasis on family travel, broadening their kids' world view as an integral part of their development. Collectively, Alex’s family speaks seven languages, a real boon as they explored the world together. Her mother's career as a flight attendant has given Alex the opportunity to travel to a whole host of dream destinations, including the Netherlands, Uganda, Israel, Japan, France, Switzerland and Costa Rica—in just the past two years! Alex is excited to foster her passion for travel further through working in the ecotourism industry. When she isn't coding, designing or exploring the world, Alex enjoys skiing and hiking in the mountains, playing sports at the park with friends, discovering new restaurants in Denver with her husband, and seeing the latest movie. And just in case you were curious, if Alex were an animal, she says she would be an otter. ?
