Luis Lobos

Luis was born in the riverside town of San Ignacio, Belize. From a young age, he pursued adventurous endeavors that immersed him in nature near his beautiful hometown. His love of nature and adventure spurred a desire to study guiding and led Luis to earn a naturalist guide license, which he has put to use while guiding groups for the past 10 years. He enjoys utilizing the expansive knowledge he has about his country to socialize with travelers and to share the wonderful and amazing things that Belize has to offer.

Luis enjoys rock climbing and spelunking, especially because these activities require higher levels of training including swift water rescue and confined cave rescue. Luis speaks English, creole and Spanish. When he isn’t educating or adventuring with travelers, he enjoys spending time with his wife and lovely, young daughter.

"Luis was a fantastic guide. He was very concerned with making sure we all were seeing and doing what we had expected. He also went out of his way to take care of any special requests. He really knows his history, culture and wildlife. I couldn't have asked for anything more."

R. Bansmer
"Luis was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable about all the wildlife, the Mayan culture and the country. He took care of all travel details perfectly, and was very considerate and helpful to everyone in our group."

J. Haugsness
"Luis was everything I wanted and needed in an Expedition Leader. First and foremost, he was knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Belize in all habitats visited. He could recognize birds by their call and then proceed to find them. He patiently assisted everyone in spotting each bird. Secondly, he was gracious and watchful, checking in with each guest about their health and wellbeing. He kept each of our trip desires in mind as we navigated our tour. Thirdly, he informed us about the Maya Mundo and their culture. I never dreamed I would learn so much archaeology and Belizean history on this trip. And finally, he has a grand sense of humor, making the trip fun at all times. He is truly the whole package when it comes to an Expedition Leader!"

S. Phillips
"Luis was everything I could ask for in an Expedition Leader. He was knowledgeable, helpful, a strong leader, a great troubleshooter and a thoroughly nice guy. He shared about himself, his family and his country in a way that brought me closer to Belize than any guidebook could."
