His interests and specialties are diverse, from alpine forests to coral reefs, and serve him well as he never knows where he might be off to next. His main passions include photography and observing animal behavior, which invariably results in both a camera and binoculars slung over his shoulder. Whether it’s on land, by ship or underwater, Ian is eager to share the wonders of discovery in the wild and remote corners of the globe he explores.
He has experience working in Antarctica, South Georgia, the Falkland Islands, Australia, Svalbard, French Polynesia, Micronesia, Caribbean, Southeast Asia, the Dalmatian Coast, Mediterranean, Baja Mexico, Scotland, Central America, Southeast Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and California.
Ian prefers the term migratory rather than nomadic when describing his lifestyle, but can be somewhat reliably tracked down in central Oregon when not out in the field.
