Erika Fitzgerald

Erika foun that she loved teaching and sharing her passions with others. Her newly discovered enthusiasm for teaching led her to Missoula, Montana where she got her Master's in Education from the University of Montana. Inspired by the idea of teaching in faraway places, Erika took her first classroom job in Whittier, Alaska, a remote and quirky small town on the edge of Prince William Sound. She spent her summers again working on a boat, as a deckhand on a water taxi. The job not only provided Erika the opportunity to share her love of Prince William Sound with visitors, but it also gave her a true sense of the impact humans have on their environment.
After 11 years of teaching in Alaska, Erika, her husband and their two dogs decided it was time for a new adventure. They are currently living and working in northwest Montana, not far from Glacier National Park. When Erika is not working, she can often be found on a bike, logging many miles on the backroads and trails of the area.
