Abner Simeon

Abner Simeon Abner Simeon, a.k.a. Abby or "Eagle Eye," was born in a northern village in Namibia and grew up in the central region. He was raised at the safari lodge where his parents worked, attending the on-site private primary school before moving to the closest town for high school. On holidays, he would join his big brother who was a ranger on wildlife drives. Early on, he aspired to be a pilot, but his love for nature won out.

After high school Abner worked his way up the ladder at lodges across Namibia, starting as a handyman while angling for the knowledge and expertise to become a guide. His dream came true in 2014 when Amarula Eco-Training and FGASA in South Africa sponsored his training. He has since earned the highest levels of guide qualifications. He has worked at many wilderness camps across Namibia, and while exploring his country he has learned a lot, growing his passion for sharing the importance of conservation. This is particularly important to him regarding local youth, including Children in the Wilderness, with whom he shares his knowledge and insight during time away from guiding.

During his free time, Abner loves making music and spending time with family and friends. He is a keen photographer who loves nature and says, "I go crazy about the wild and that’s why am working so hard with Nat Hab to work with communities and conservation so we can save our nature and wildlife. I know we have a lot of people who want to save the planet, and and if we work together we can make it possible."

Praise from Nat Hab Travelers:

D. Winograd
Abner is one of the kindest, most good humored, emotionally intelligent people I’ve ever met. His attention to detail and the organization of every aspect of the trip was impressive.

C. Neumann
I had a wonderful experience traveling with Abner! He established a personal bond easily and was consistently kind, eager to make sure we had a great experience, funny and a pleasure to spend time with.

M. Thompson
Abner was a fantastic guide—knowledgeable and accommodating. He is clearly proud of his country and open about life in Namibia and his own life experiences. He is a real asset to the Nat Hab team!

S. Larsen
Abner was very attentive to our needs and always seemed to have a smile for us. He was well prepared for each day's activities, and you could tell at each of the camps that the staff was very fond him.

M. Spiegel
Abner is an absolutely wonderful guide! He is very knowledgeable, but beyond that, he worked so hard to ensure that everything was perfect for us. He loves what he is doing and it really shows.

S. Miller
Abner was a great guide. Of the many trips we've taken, he would rank at the top! He was attentive, personable, very knowledgeable and overall a great representative of Namibia.

M. Chandler
Abner was a delight: organized, outgoing, friendly and concerned for the well being of everyone. He was a terrific driver and guide. He knew we had an interest in any birds we could find and went out of his way to locate them. Any time he couldn't identify one, he spent time consulting other people at camp and poring through his Southern African bird book to find out. He has a deep love of Namibia and a deep love of guiding—a winning combination!
