Day 1: Juliaca, Peru / Titilaka Lodge
Fly to Juliaca where you are greeted by your English-speaking guide and driver. Drive south over the Altiplano through Puno and on to Titilaka, an award-winning luxury ecolodge
on a secluded peninsula on the western shore of Lake Titicaca. Titilaka is located on the Peruvian side of the lake, near small villages of Quechua and Aymara speakers and pre-Columbian and colonial heritage sites. Your comprehensive package begins with a boxed lunch on arrival, to accommodate your choice of afternoon activities. Consult with the Experience Concierge who will tailor a custom itinerary to your preferences, incorporating activities ranging from contemplative to exhilarating. Excursions range from 2-hour outings to half- or full-day excursions subject to weather conditions, schedules, abilities and personal preferences. This evening, enjoy your first opportunity to sample the fresh contemporary Andean fusion dishes the lodge dining room is noted for, such as cilantro roast lamb and fresh trout.
Days 2 & 3: Exploring Lake Titicaca & Environs
Two full days are devoted to a personalized mix of activities designed to provide a captivating experience of the geography, history and
culture of the Lake Titicaca region. Included is a visit to the Uros floating islands, hand-constructed from the totora
reeds that line the lakeshore. The islands are home to local fishermen and basketweavers
who also use the reeds to build homes, boats and
handicrafts. The Uros people have been living on Lake Titicaca for hundreds of years, after being forced to relocate to the floating islands they created when the Incas seized their land in the 15th century. You will also make a trip to Taquile Island, famous for its textile culture, with intricate
knitted goods made from distinctive hand-dyed and spun yarn. Other options include shorter excursions such as rowing among the reeds, hikes along the beach or to Titicaca Arch, mountain bike outings, a visit to a local community and archaeological site, or paddling a kayak around Titilaka's private peninsula to observe birds and nature along the shoreline. A slate of optional additional activities (at an extra cost) is also available, including all-day overland excursions to fascinating geological and archaeological sites such as Tinajani Canyon and Tihuanaco
Your package includes all meals at the lodge and while you are participating in various included activities off-site. Drinks (except premium labels) are also included during cocktail hour at lunch and dinner at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Airport for Homeward Flights
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning of activity before transferring to the Juliaca airport for onward flights. Depending on flight schedules, lunch at the lodge and a boxed dinner may also be included.
