This new luxury eco-resort and spa brings a new level of accommodation to sleepy Placencia in southern Belize, where a traffic barrier still swings down to close the main road whenever a small plane lands on the narrow peninsula. The 19-acre beachfront property is located within a 200-acre private reserve, offering the utmost in seclusion. 

Guests stay in individual beach houses with all the amenities of a private residence, including custom-made, locally produced craft furnishings and artwork. Contemporary cottages have vaulted hardwood ceilings and cool tile floors, with glass doors that open onto a spacious private veranda steps from the beach. The bathroom features a spacious indoor soaking tub with overhead shower, as well as a stunning outdoor shower surrounded by specially designed landscaping. King-size beds have 100-percent cotton Matouk sheets, and bathroom amenities include 100-percent cotton Turkish bathrobes and towels. Rooms have air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan to accentuate the tropical sea breeze. 

Though Naia's setting is well off Belize's standard tourist track, you don't lack for state-of-the-art amenities: rooms have wireless Internet access, telephone, a large flat screen Smart TV, Bose sound system with docking station and an electronic safe. A coffee maker is provided, along with fresh beans, a grinder and plunge pot. Fresh, locally sourced cuisine is creatively prepared at the resort's three restaurants: 1981 offers fine dining; the lagoonside Reflections Spa Cafe features healthy light fare and smoothies; and the Beach Bar and Grill is your choice for cold beers, tropical cocktails and casual bites.
