Hotel Eiger
Murren, Switzerland
Perched on a mountainside in an enchanting Swiss mountain hamlet that’s free of cars, the Hotel Eiger has been continuously owned and managed by the Staehli family since it was built in 1886. While rooms have obviously been upgraded since then, the alpine inn’s unsurpassed views over the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau haven’t changed a bit. Newly renovated bedrooms feature local wood furniture and cozy duvets, with bright color accents and historic photographs of the iconic trams and trains that wind through the mountains. Sink into an armchair or step onto your private balcony to absorb the view over glaciers and peaks. Each room has two twin beds that can be converted to a king, a writing desk, and an en suite bathroom with tub or shower. Amenities also include free Wi-Fi, TV and radio. The hotel's second-floor spa has a rain shower and Jacuzzi with views over the mountains, plus a ground-level swimming pool and sauna where you become part of the panorama as you swim or steam. Wake up to a breakfast of fresh croissants, Swiss muesli, mountain cheese, bacon and eggs, salmon and yogurt for a perfect start to your day in the Alps.
