Wild and Ancient China Photo Tour

Photographic Journey Featuring a Spectacular Combination of Wildlife, Scenery, Culture and History
China has always held a mystique for travelers, and this is especially true for photographers. Few places on earth offer such a rich palette of photography opportunities: The Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven evoke images of imperial splendor, tea ceremonies and serene gardens reflect centuries of custom, the ancient stonework of the Great Wall snakes off toward the horizon. Just as grand, however, if less familiar, are China’s natural treasures. Great rivers and mountain ranges dominate much of the landscape. The country's dwindling bamboo forests are still home to endangered giant pandas. China is a photographer’s dream, offering a unique combination of mesmerizing landscapes, historic sites, cultural experiences and wildlife photo opportunities. Come explore this amazing country with us, as we capture images of China both ancient and wild.
  • Discover the authentic China on our all-encompassing small-group expedition revealing the country’s rich culture, history and nature
  • Come face to face with endangered giant pandas at two of China’s world-renowned panda reserves dedicated to their conservation
  • Walk on a less-visited part of the Great Wall, see the fabulous Terracotta Warriors and journey overland across the Tibetan Plateau through the mountains of Sichuan
Location of Adventure
Eastern China

Group Size Limit
Approximately 15 Travelers
Small group sizes are the best way to experience nature, and this is especially true for our photographic adventures. With only 15 travelers, you’re assured plenty of space and personalized attention when you need it. As a small group, we maintain the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a way that maximizes the photo opportunities – we'll depart early in the morning to chase the best light, remain at a site of specific photographic interest to fully explore the potential, or move to a new destination when desired. Our expert naturalist and accomplished photographer is always available to answer your questions, provide tips and techniques, and to help you better understand and photograph this amazing region of the world.

Airport transfers on Day 1 and final day of itinerary (and on day prior to start of trip if you are staying at The Peninsula Beijing), accommodations, land transportation and all internal flights, meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on final day, bottled water in vehicles, and bottled water and soft drinks at meals, services of an NHA Expedition Leader, local tour escort and local guides, some gratuities and all permits, entrance fees and taxes.

Important Information
China is known more for its history and culture than its natural features, but this trip encompasses all of these dimensions. We visit the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors while also focusing on the natural wonders most visitors miss, particularly the pandas of Bifengxia.

Getting There & Getting Home
You must arrive in Beijing by 2:30 pm on Day 1. You are free to depart Chengdu anytime on the final day. We can best serve you if Natural Habitat Adventures' Travel Desk makes your airline reservations, as we are intimately familiar with the special requirements of this program and can arrange the most efficient travel.
