Location of Adventure
Kenya, East Africa
Group Size Limit
Approximately 8 Travelers
Traveling in a small group away from crowds is the best way to experience nature, and this is especially true for our photography adventures. With a maximum of just 3-4 travelers per safari vehicle (depending on the vehicle size), you’re assured of plenty of space and personalized attention when you need it. As a small group, we maintain the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a way that maximizes the photo opportunities—we'll depart early in the morning to chase the best light, remain at a site of specific photographic interest to fully explore the potential, or move to a new destination when desired. Our expert naturalist and accomplished photographer is always available to answer your questions, provide tips and techniques, and to help you better understand and photograph this amazing region of the world.
Our Specialized 4x4 Land Rovers and Land Cruisers
We explore the wilds of Kenya in custom-built, durable 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers or Land Rovers. Our privately chartered vehicles offer all travelers a window seat plus additional open seats for photo gear. In certain areas, we use open-sided vehicles with a canvas roof, offering an open field of view and protection from the elements. Built to withstand the rigors of rough roads, they provide a comfortable ride and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities for travelers. Reinforced suspension systems and spacious interiors enhance the safari experience. Amenities available in each vehicle include a car fridge or coolers with water and soft drinks, bird and mammal reference guides, bean bags for camera stability, and Maasai shuka blankets for added warmth on cool morning and evening drives. Our vehicles truly enhance your safari experience!
Our Private Leaders
Included
Scheduled round trip light aircraft flights between Nairobi and the Maasai Mara, with a high luggage allowance of 60 lbs per person, window seats for all guests in the safari vehicles, accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 to lunch on final day, non-alcoholic drinks at camps, with meals, and in vehicles, house alcoholic drinks in camps, services of NHA Expedition Leader (specific leaders subject to change), local guides and lodge staff, some gratuities, airport transfers on Day 1 and final day, permits and entrance fees, and all taxes.
Not Included
Travel to and from start and end point of trip, premium alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, souvenirs, etc.), airline baggage fees, airport and departure taxes, optional travel insurance, and required medical evacuation insurance.
Physical Requirements
Easy
There is no strenuous activity involved during this safari, though a safari vehicle frequently offers a bumpy ride. Wildlife drives often involve long hours of sitting and sometimes bouncing around. While we don't consider this strenuous, it can be uncomfortable and pose a particular type of physical demand on the body. All travelers must be able to climb into and out of the raised 4x4 trucks that we use for safari vehicles. They must also be able to walk to and from the vehicle to our camp accommodations, which sometimes involves walking over uneven ground or on boardwalks. Safari accommodations and vehicles are not climate controlled and, depending on the seasonality, temperatures can range from quite cold to extremely hot so it is critical that travelers come prepared. Additionally, while any short walks are considered optional, you will get the most out of your safari experience if you can walk a mile or two over uneven ground without assistance. We recommend that all travelers have an adventurous spirit, as they will often enjoy the closest animal encounters.
Important Information About This Trip
Kenya, teeming with wildlife, is among the original safari destinations, and rightly so. This itinerary takes advantage of the movements of one of our planet’s most astonishing wildlife events: the Great Wildebeest Migration as it crosses from Tanzania.
Mandatory Insurance
Since the areas we travel to on this trip are remote and wild (that's why we go there!), we require medical evacuation insurance for our guests' safety. If you decline the medical evacuation insurance coverage offered by Natural Habitat, we request that you send us documentation of the independent coverage you have selected. We will add the cost of a medical evacuation policy to your tour invoice until you provide our office with proof of coverage including your insurance company's name, contact number and your individual policy number. Thank you for understanding that our policy exists exclusively in the interest of our guests' safety.
Getting There & Getting Home
You must arrive in Nairobi, Kenya before 6:30 pm on Day 1 and you may depart Nairobi after 7 pm on the final day. We can best serve you if our Natural Habitat Adventures Travel Desk makes your reservations, as our staff is intimately familiar with the special requirements of these programs and can arrange the most efficient travel.
