Group Size Limit
Approximately 9 Travelers
Small group sizes are the best way to experience nature, and this is especially true for our photographic adventures. With a maximum of only three travelers per safari vehicle, you’re assured of plenty of space and personalized attention when you need it. As a small group, we maintain the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a way that maximizes the photo opportunities – we'll depart early in the morning to chase the best light, remain at a site of specific photographic interest to fully explore the potential, or move to a new destination when desired. Our expert naturalist and accomplished photographer is always available to answer your questions, provide tips and techniques, and to help you better understand and photograph this amazing region of the world.
Our Specialized 4x4 Land Rovers and Land Cruisers
As with all of our adventures around the world, our focus is on wildlife and nature viewing, and in Africa a big portion of that is performed during our wildlife drives. In Tanzania our safari vehicles are specially-adapted, reinforced, roof-hatch Land Cruisers seating 5 travelers each plus a guide, but we limit our capacity to just three guests per vehicle, giving all travelers a window seat. The custom-installed Volvo bucket seats have superior quality spring cushions and adjustable lumbar support for incomparable comfort. Since each row has its own roof hatch, and sits slightly higher than the row in front of it, all guests enjoy excellent viewing opportunities. With no middle seats, there is plenty of room for gear and extra leg room. Refrigerators/ice boxes keep drinks cool for our guests and an on board library of bird and mammal books offer insight into the region’s natural history. As is the case with all of our vehicles, these safari trucks are enhanced with specialized suspensions to ensure the most comfortable ride possible in the wilds of Africa.
Our Private Leaders
Scheduled round trip light aircraft flights between Nairobi and the Maasai Mara, with a high luggage allowance of 80 lbs per person, window seats for all guests in the safari vehicles, accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 to dinner on final day (except lunch final day), non-alcoholic drinks at camps, with meals, and in vehicles, house alcoholic drinks in camps, services of NHA Expedition Leader, local guides and lodge staff, some gratuities, airport transfers on Day 1 and final day, permits and entrance fees, and all taxes.
Not Included
Travel to and from start and end point of trip, premium alcoholic beverages, lunch final day, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, souvenirs, etc.), airline baggage fees, airport and departure taxes, optional travel insurance, and required medical evacuation insurance.
Mandatory Insurance
Since the areas we travel to on this trip are remote and wild (that's why we go there!), we require medical evacuation insurance for our guests' safety. If you decline the medical evacuation insurance coverage offered by Natural Habitat, we request that you send us documentation of the independent coverage you have selected. We will add the cost of a medical evacuation policy to your tour invoice until you provide our office with proof of coverage including your insurance company's name, contact number and your individual policy number. Thank you for understanding that our policy exists exclusively in the interest of our guests' safety.
Physical Requirements
There is no strenuous activity involved while on safari; however, a safari vehicle sometimes offers a bumpy ride. We recommend that travelers have an adventurous spirit, as they will often enjoy the closest animal encounters.
Important Information About This Trip
Kenya, teeming with wildlife, is among the original safari destinations, and rightly so. This itinerary takes advantage of the movements of one of our planet’s most astonishing wildlife events: the Great Wildebeest Migration as it crosses from Tanzania.
Getting There & Getting Home
You must arrive in Nairobi, Kenya before 6:30pm on Day 1 and you may depart Nairobi after 7pm on the final day. We can best serve you if our Natural Habitat Adventures Travel Desk makes your reservations, as our staff is intimately familiar with the special requirements of these programs and can arrange the most efficient and cost-effective travel.
