Classic Polar Bear Expedition

Our "flagship" polar bear expedition. Polar bear watching in the polar bear capital of the world!

Trip Overview
  • See the world’s greatest concentration of polar bears, just outside Churchill, Manitoba
  • Experience the frozen wilderness on Hudson Bay from the comfort of warm tundra vehicles
  • Discover the challenges and joys of life in the far north in the outpost town of Churchill

Looking out onto the vast ice floe, we spy them, white on white. Alternately regal and whimsical and always awe inspiring, polar bears in the wild offer a natural encounter charged with drama and magic. Yet a warming climate and melting ice sheet are affecting Arctic ecosystems, threatening the future of all polar bears. Natural Habitat Adventures is responding with measures like our carbon offset program, and we have faith that humanity will rally to protect the frozen home of these engaging beasts. There’s no better time than now to see polar bears in their natural habitat, and no one better to take you up close than us. Come face to face with these kings of the north on a polar bear expedition with Natural Habitat Adventures.

Location of Adventure
Churchill, Manitoba, Canada

Group Size Limit: Approximately 15 Travelers
A very important feature of our polar bear expeditions is the limited group size. Nature is always best experienced in smaller groups and it is particularly important on this expedition so our guests have plenty of room on board the tundra vehicles.

Included
R/T flight from Winnipeg to Churchill, accommodations, all meals (except either lunch or dinner on your final day in Churchill), services of NHA's professional Expedition Leaders and assistants, all activities/entrance fees, evening wildlife and cultural presentations, all taxes and service charges.

Not Included
Travel to and from Winnipeg, lunch or dinner on your final day in Churchill, alcoholic beverages, gratuities, travel insurance, items of a personal nature (telephone calls, laundry, etc.).

Physical Requirements
Easy
A polar bear expedition with Natural Habitat Adventures requires very little to no walking. Buggies can sometimes offer a bumpy ride.

Getting There & Getting Home
In case of flight or weather delays, we recommend that you arrive a day early and either participate in our Extra Day in Winnipeg program or stay on your own. Our small group tour begins with a 7:00 pm welcome dinner on Day 1. You are free to depart at any time on the final day.

Proof of Citizenship

NOTE: BEGINNING JANUARY 8, 2007, ALL U.S. CITIZENS TRAVELING VIA AIR OR SEA WILL REQUIRE A VALID PASSPORT TO ENTER CANADA. Please note that birth certificates and other government-issued photo I.D.’s will NO LONGER be accepted for entry.

Tundra Lodge Adventure
Stay at our Tundra Lodge located in an area of high bear density. This remarkable adventure allows us early mornings and late evenings among the bears on the tundra!

Churchill: An Arctic Summer
Our small groups encounter hundreds of beluga whales from our Zodiacs, as well as caribou, polar bears, Arctic fox, and much more on this sub-Arctic expedition!
