ADVENTURE PREP SPECIALIST

This is a full-time office position based in Boulder, CO. At Natural Habitat Adventures, we relish our casual, animal-friendly work environment. Although we take our jobs very seriously, we cannot say the same for ourselves. We continually strive to improve while operating with a sense of humor and respect for one another.

The Adventure Prep Specialist is a member of the Pre-Departure team and is responsible for all tasks associated with researching, writing, printing, assembling and mailing pre-trip documents to Nat Hab travelers participating on our trips worldwide. Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to these:

-Work independently, and with Destination Managers and our partners and guides in the field, to research, write and produce pre-trip booklets and wildlife checklists (up to 200+ pages) for new scheduled destinations.
-Work with our Sales Department, including Group Sales and Adventure Specialists, to create customized pre-trip information for affinity groups and independent travelers.
-Work closely with all above-mentioned staff to perform annual updates and improvements to all existing pre-trip materials, making sure all details are accurate and up to date.
-Working on a strict timeline, print and thoroughly review traveler rosters to gather details regarding materials that need to be printed, packaged and mailed to each client.
-Send pre-trip emails to guests, document all related tasks in our client database and follow up on any requests for changes or additional gear.
-Liaise with our partners at World Wildlife Fund to make sure information provided to guests is current and trip-specific.
-Continually focus on ways to improve booklet design and pre-trip material content.
-Work with our IT team to improve and streamline related departmental processes.

Based on previous hiring experience, this position could potentially involve management responsibilities as well as higher-level duties that focus on strategizing and implementing departmental improvements.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or other related field and at least two years of creative writing experience, ideally in a travel-related industry. Previous experience in a deadline-oriented, multitasking environment required. Management experience a plus. Must possess a demonstrated passion for travel/tourism, nature/wildlife or related field. International travel experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities: Must be highly organized and detail-oriented. Ability to prioritize and efficiently manage multiple tasks, consistently meeting scheduled deadlines. Taking initiate to improve processes or create solutions where needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High levels of integrity, maturity and enthusiasm. Must be able to adapt to changing and flexible responsibilities. Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Working knowledge of office systems and equipment (e.g. computers, telephones, copiers, Internet.). Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook. Knowledge of desktop publishing software a plus.

COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid vacation, annual travel opportunities, pro-deals on outdoor clothing/gear, on-site fitness facility and exercise classes. Eligibility for medical insurance and participation in 401(k) after pre-determined period of time.
