Sandy's Scintillating Adventures

Finally made it! Overnight hike to the top of Mt. Merapi (Mountain of Fire), the most active volcano in Sumatra, Indonesia, to catch the sunrise. It was a breathtaking view at the top.Cooling off from my motorbike ride with a quick dip in a local waterfall in the Bolaven Plateau, Laos. The gray whales return each year to their traditional birthing and breeding grounds at San Ignacio Lagoon on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. It’s so amazing that they are as curious about us as we are about them. They come right up to our skiffs and love to be touched!Watching a lion chillin’ on our game drive in the Serengeti, Tanzania. My new best friend! Learning to ride a camel in the Peace Corps Mauritania, West Africa. My boyfriend Glenn and I tail-gaiting before a Spearhead concert at our favorite venue: Red Rocks, Colorado.Enjoying a lovely invitation to hang out for couple of hours with the old men and young monks in the temple in Muang Sing, Laos. They shared their lunch, their Laos-Laos (homemade rice whiskey), and a few fun dances. An awesome day of trekking with an amazing view from the trail of Mt. Everest and Ama Dablam, Nepal.I love celebrating Halloween; it’s one of my favorite holidays. My friends and I decided on KISS this year… I’m Paul Stanley.Bear crossing! Checking out the great Polar Bears of Churchill.Camping with friends in the San Rafael Swell area in Utah. Here we’ve stopped for a rest during our day hike through one of the local canyons. My favorite lounging spot on Siargao Island, Philippines. All dressed up and ready to go! Glenn and I getting ready to celebrate at the Nathab Christmas party. On our voyage to Antarctica we stopped to check out the king penguin colony on South Georgia Island. My sister Lisa and I hiking in my own back yard at Chautauqua Park in lovely Boulder, Colorado.Angkor Wat was built for king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. Here is a shot at sunrise of Angkor Temple, the largest and best preserved monument of the Angkor complex in Cambodia.Glenn and I in the midst of Asia’s largest water fight on the streets on Bangkok, Thailand during the Songkran (Thai New Year) celebration. This is a sunrise view from atop Mt. Pananjakan in Java, Indonesia. Clockwise from lower left is the steaming crater of Mt. Bromo, erupting Mt. Semeru, and the stately Mt. Batok. Trying not to burn our feet as we climb down the dune in Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado. This picture is taken as I’m sitting on the side of the boat getting ready to jump in the water to swim with an amazing whale shark at Isla Holbox. This one, which is about 25-feet long, is feeding on plankton at the water’s surface.
