Home Guides & Staff Guide Bios Rosa Alegria Gonzales

Rosa Alegria Gonzales

Rosa was born and raised in Peru. She is a native Quechuan, and is extremely proud of the diverse flora and fauna, as well as the cultures, of her native country. Rosa has been a guide and tour leader for well over 10 years, escorting many exploratory and media groups in their search to learn about the cultures and traditions of the Incas and other historic inhabitants of Peru. While she now calls Cusco home, she also lived for several years in the Tambopata region of the Peruvian Amazon. Rosa’s strength as a guide is her in-depth knowledge of and passion for her subject matter, as well as her kind and caring demeanor. We are so lucky to have such a special and dedicated woman on board our guide team.

Upcoming Adventures with Rosa:
Guided Machu Picchu Adventure

Praise from Natural Habitat travelers:

M. Robinson

"Machu Picchu was an eye-opening social history adventure. Rosa was able to give us the intertwining of Quechua and Inca tribal histories (not sure if tribal is correct) while connecting each with goals and accomplishments in Machu Picchu construction and use. She shared info about the plants, geology and arid conditions of the site...as well as the Hiram Bingham stories, which delighted me as his grandson was one of my students. She shared my delight in epiphytes and she showed me taller bromels than I had ever seen."

E. Miller
"Rosa is the best guide that I have ever had --- always smiling, knew everything about Machu Picchu and Peru, an absolutely delightful person."

M. Bleden
"Rosa went above and beyond as our guide. She was so very imformative about history, culture and customs. She was very attentive to my grandchildren, which I appreciate. Any situation that came up which needed extraordinary attention, she responded eagerly. I so appreciate her enthusiasm and knowledge."

W. Fowler
“Rosa was so knowledgeable about Peru's history, geography, culture, etc. We appreciated that she shared her cultural perspectives with us. It was enlightening to learn about Peru through the eyes of a local, and it was a pleasure to spend those days with her."

P. Little
“Rosa was Fabulous!!! She made the whole trip so wonderful. Her knowledge level was extremely high. She made everthing come to life. She was very attentive. Had a very high energy level."
