Physical Requirements
This program offers a more active option to our Guided Machu Picchu Adventure.  We will hike the last stretch of the Inca Trail, which is about 6 miles in length (the first half a steady, uphill climb) and can take 5-8 hours. We will also explore the Ollantaytambo ruins, where we climb steep terraces on a mountainside. This extension takes place at altitudes between 8,000 and 11,000 feet and includes walking over uneven terrain, along narrow exposed paths, and up and down stone stairs within the ruins complex.
Important Information About This Trip
Our Machu Picchu Active Adventure differs from most others in that we have an expert Peruvian guide with the group from the time you arrive in Cusco to the time you depart. This is the only way to experience in an integrated fashion the nature, culture and history of this fascinating region. We also take a more active approach to our excursions with longer hikes and moderately strenuous activities.
Mandatory Insurance
Getting There & Getting Home
Arrive Lima, Peru any time on Day 1 of the itinerary. We will fly to Cusco early in the morning on Day 2, and return to Lima around noon on Day 6. You are free to depart Lima after 3 PM on the final day, though most flights back to the US leave around midnight.
