Discover the romance of Rajasthan’s fabled capital
Day 1: Agra / JaipurDepart with your driver this morning for the 6-hour trip to Jaipur. En route, stop to visit Fatehpur Sikri for a tour with a local guide. This enormous deserted city was built in the 16th century by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Designed to be a modern capital, it was occupied for little more than a decade, and then abandoned in 1585 when its water supply reputedly dried up and the imperial fort was rebuilt at Agra. The complex of monuments and temples, a World Heritage Site, is almost perfectly preserved. Continue on to Jaipur. Upon arrival, check in to the fabulous Jai Mahal Palace, one of India’s finest historic accommodations.
Day 2: Jaipur
Founded in 1728 by the astronomer-king Maharaja Jai Singh, Jaipur is a labyrinth of sprawling bazaars and opulent palaces, resplendent with tales of valor. The focal point of the city is the Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds, a five-story Baroque-like structure built to enable the veiled ladies of the harem to discreetly observe the street scenes below. This morning you visit the Amber Fort, a hilltop citadel whose façade is mirrored in Maotha Lake below. The 16th-century fortress holds a profusion of watchtowers, dungeons and crenellated walls, and the royal palaces inside feature gracious courtyards and gardens. The afternoon is devoted to the Old Quarter, beginning with the City Palace, a harmonious blend of Mughal and Raiput architecture. Now a museum, it houses a fine collection of miniature paintings, manuscripts, Mughal carpets, musical instruments, royal costumes and weapons, offering rich insight into Jaipur's royal past. You also visit the medieval Observatory, with its 90-foot sundial.
Early this evening drive to the Amber Forest Valley for a most remarkable adventure. Beautifully decorated elephants await your arrival, each bearing a carved wooden howdah (seat) adorned with brass motifs. Your route winds through a riverbed, and you merge into a series of farms and fields, passing a few quiet villages tucked away in the countryside. Following your ride, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at a private farm in Dera Amer.
Day 3: Jaipur / Delhi / Home
You are met at the hotel this morning and transferred to the Jaipur airport to connect with your flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi you are transferred to the Trident Hotel where a dayroom will be available for your use. Later this evening, you are transferred to the Delhi International Airport for your departing flight.

Studies suggest that two-thirds of the world’s polar bear population could be gone by 2050. And if current warming trends continue unabated, WWF scientists and other researchers believe that polar bears may disappear altogether within 100 years. WWF is intent on preventing this from happening.
