Discover the Wildlife and Cultural Highlights of Kenya's Capital on this Pre-Trip Extension
Before your safari departs, be sure you don't miss the many attractions of Nairobi, East Africa's most important city. Natural Habitat Adventures has arranged an expertly guided tour of some of Nairobi's most interesting highlights. The program begins one day prior to the departure of each Great Kenya Migration Safari, with a pre-trip overnight at the elegant House of Waine, located in the tranquil Nairobi suburb of Karen. You'll enjoy a leisurely morning among the gardens and grounds of this stately boutique hotel, with a full breakfast included, then set out for a slate of activities concludes in time for your group's welcome dinner that evening. Included are the famous Giraffe Center, established to protect the endangered Rothschild's giraffe found only in the grasslands of East Africa; the Daphne Sheldrick elephant orphanage at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a haven for elephants and rhinos; and the Karen Blixen Museum, the former Kenyan home of the Danish author who gained fame for her memoir Out of Africa, chronicling life at on the coffee estate in the early 20th century. You'll also have an opportunity to shop for local handicrafts, time permitting. Overnight accommodations are included at House of Waine.
