Hike, Bike or Explore by 4x4, Discovering Diverse Landscapes and Bushman Rock Art
This 5-star eco-experience unites nature and luxury in a place of discovery and refuge. From July through October the veld bursts into color with spring flowers. More than 750 indigenous plant species have been identified within the reserve, including Bushman's Kloof’s own ‘Cederberg Seven’ – an endemic group of species native only to this area. Walk, bike or travel by 4x4 in search of the region’s 35 mammal species and 150 bird species. Most commonly seen are gemsbok, bontebok, Cape Mountain zebra, eland, red hartebeest, grey rhebok, klipspringer, kudu, springbok and steenbok, with occasional sightings of aardwolf, African wild cat, bat-eared fox, Cape fox and porcupine. The reserve is rich in Bushman rock art, with more than 130 pristine sites. Some date as far back as 10,000 years, some of the oldest recorded examples of human art. Myriad activities are available, including sunset nature drives, early morning rock-art excursions, nature hikes, mountain biking, canoeing, swimming, fly fishing and archery. After all this exploration, cool off with a dip beneath a refreshing waterfall or the natural, crystal-clear rock pools, or enjoy a treatment at the spa.
