Hidden Yellowstone & Grand Teton
The best small-group, guided adventure to one of America's most beautiful wildlife spots!
Trip Overview
- Safari in search of wolves, grizzlies, elk and bison in Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley
- Experience wildlife-viewing spots missed by the casual tourist with your expert guides
- Float the Snake River through Jackson Hole, beneath the Tetons’ spires
When President Theodore Roosevelt visited Yellowstone in 1903, he proclaimed it “absolutely unique in the world.” Embracing the idea of natural beauty as a national asset, he championed the idea of national parks, building a priceless legacy for generations to follow. In the northwest corner of Wyoming, two treasured parks offer an immersion in scenery and wildlife unparalleled in the Lower 48. This classic small-group safari right at home takes us into the domain of elk and buffalo herds, moose, coyotes, foxes, bald eagles and, of course, bears and wolves. From plains to peaks, Yellowstone Country still works strong magic.
Location of Adventure Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Wyoming and Montana
Group Size Limit: Approximately 7 Travelers A very important feature of this off-the-beaten-path guided tour is the limited group size, as nature expeditions are best experienced with smaller groups of travelers. (We also sometimes run double groups with two naturalist guides and two vehicles. These guided adventures are limited to 14 travelers).
Included Accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on final day, bottled water, services of NHA Expedition Leaders and local guides, most gratuities, airport transfer on Day 1, permits and entrance fees, all taxes.
Not Included Travel to and from start and end point of trip, alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, airport transfer on final day, items of a personal nature (phone calls, souvenirs, etc.), airline baggage fees, airport and departure taxes, optional travel insurance.
Physical Requirements Moderate / Flexible Travelers should be able to walk distances of one mile in order to be able to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds.
Important Information about This Trip
We call this trip “Hidden Yellowstone & Tetons” because our Expedition Leaders, who know this area intimately, are adept at getting our groups to less-visited areas away from the crowds and because we tend to run the trips when the parks are less crowded. But, of course, Yellowstone is a very popular destination, so be prepared for at least a fair amount of company. We operate this trip similarly to how we operate our African safaris: We visit wildlife locations in the early mornings, when viewing is at its best and most tourists are still asleep.
Getting There & Getting Home Arrive in Jackson, Wyoming in time for a 6:00 p.m. orientation dinner and depart anytime on the final day after we spend our final evening together in Jackson.
Wolves & Wildlife of Yellowstone A classic safari tracking wolves, moose, elk, bears, and other wildlife amid the awesome peaks of the Grand Tetons and the snowy valleys of Yellowstone National Park.
Wild Patagonia An all-encompassing expedition into the best of Patagonia! Visit Peninsula Valdez, Fitz Roy Mount, Torres del Paine, and much more.
