Botswana Explorer Safari

A Classic Tented Safari That Reveals the Wildest Side of Remote Botswana
As your Land Rover steals through the mopane woodlands, suddenly you hear something. It's a shrill trumpet, in the distance. The truck halts. Our Expedition Leader signals us to remain still. A moment later, a crescendo grows as dozens of elephants rumble past, marching by in a cloud of dust and spray as they trundle through a pool of water and hurry through the forest. It's a sight and sound that's not uncommon in the wilds of Botswana, where a commitment to small-scale eco-travel is sustaining vast animal populations in protected reserves. Botswana offers a safari experience evocative of an earlier era, when the African wilderness was uncrowded and synonymous with heady adventure. Our private tented camps make that possible still, situated deep in the bush where you'll find a multitude of species from rare sitatunga antelope to regal prides of lion. We can’t wait to share the wonders with you!

Trip Highlights

  • Discover exclusive private reserves with our renowned NHA Safari Expedition Leaders, for a secluded experience of some of Africa's very best wildlife viewing
  • Explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta, teeming with animals and birds, and cruise the Chobe River among vast numbers of elephant and hippo
  • An exceptional itinerary features classic private bush camps where wilderness seclusion meets unexpected comfort, plus exclusive activities such as bush walks and night drives
What's So Distinctive About This Botswana Safari?
When you dream of an African safari, do you envision a scene straight from Out of Africa? Where wildlife roams at the edge of your classic tented camp, far from any signs of human habitation? That’s what this rare safari offers, with an immersion in some of Botswana’s most remote private reserves. Here’s what makes it so special:
  1. No More Than Seven Travelers!
Nothing is more important to creating an authentic experience of nature than a limited group size. With a maximum of just seven guests plus our highly trained Nat Hab Safari Expedition Leader, the sense of being alone in the wilderness on safari is palpable.
  2. Private Reserves Offer Remote Locales & Exclusive Activities
To enhance seclusion, we avoid more heavily visited national parks and concentrate on uncrowded private reserves. Our intimate tented camps are located in remote natural settings amid abundant wildlife, which we’ll encounter not only on traditional daytime drives, but also on guided bush walks and night drives in search of nocturnal creatures—activities that are not permitted in the national parks.
  3. A Diverse Itinerary Designed for Variety
Our itinerary is carefully crafted to maximize your experience of Botswana’s diverse habitats—and we include Victoria Falls, too, just over the border in Zambia. From the Chobe River’s elephant-filled channels to the open grasslands of Linyanti with its herds and predators, to the flooded marshlands of the Okavango Delta, you’ll encounter new scenes and species every day.
  4. Chartered Flights for Comfort & Convenience
Rather than making you endure long, rough overland drives, we maximize your safari time with chartered light aircraft transfers between camps and regions. You’ll enjoy some pretty amazing vistas from the air, too!
  5. The World's Finest Safari Guides
Natural Habitat Adventures is known worldwide for employing the finest naturalists on the planet! Our Botswana Explorer Safari includes your own private Expedition Leader, among the most highly trained guides in Africa renowned for providing exceptional service. Our Safari Expedition Leaders average 15 years' guiding experience, with additional training support provided from WWF’s leading scientists. See Expedition Leader bios with traveler comments regarding the quality of our leaders.
  6. We Stand By Your Safari with Our Quality-Value Guarantee
Natural Habitat Adventures offers an exclusive quality guarantee, which states that we promise to meet the lofty expectations we set forth in our promotional materials. To our knowledge, this is the most ambitious guarantee made by any adventure travel company. Read our important promise.
  7. Feel Good About the Way You Travel
We care deeply about our planet, just as you do. When you travel with us, the carbon emissions from your trip are 100-percent offset— atural Habitat Adventures is the world’s first carbon-neutral travel company.
  8. Natural Habitat Adventures is WWF's Travel Partner
