Winnipeg to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada
Our North Country VIA Rail journey takes us across a variety of changing habitats, from sprawling prairie to boreal forest to open subarctic tundra as we travel 1,000 miles from urban Winnipeg to the frontier outpost of Churchill on Hudson Bay. Glass dome cars offer a broad panorama of the passing scenery, providing travelers a modern mode of transport that's reminiscent of days gone by. Sleeping aboard is part of the fun, and while our private cabins are small, they are cozy and comfortable. Each cabin has large windows, a well-appointed bed, plus private toilet and sink facilities (with showers down the corridor). Meals are taken in the dining car, as we survey the passing landscape along the Canadian National and Hudson Bay railway lines.
