Home Accommodations Savegre Mountain Lodge

Savegre Mountain Lodge

Location
San Gerardo de Dota, Costa Rica

Sheltered within a verdant cloud forest in the Talamanca Mountains, family-run Savegre Mountain Lodge enjoys a remote setting of exceptional tranquility 55 miles south of San Jose. The lodge is located at a cool 7,200 feet within a private natural reserve near Los Quetzales National Park—the ideal base for exploring the myriad wonders of the tropical cloud forest. Abundant birdlife, including myriad hummingbirds, resides in the lodge vicinity, while a network of nature trails beckons guests to explore the forest, waterfalls and wildlife farther afield. Fifty large guest rooms, while simple, have been recently updated and provide clean, comfortable accommodations in a setting of genuine serenity. En suite bathrooms have basin, toilet, hot-water shower and hair dryer. Knotty pine walls and ceilings lend a rustic, cozy feel inside, while individual seating areas on the outdoor terrace invite relaxing. Huge picture windows in the main lodge and dining room survey the surrounding gardens, with views of colorful flowers and flitting hummingbirds. The bar and lounge area center on a circular fireplace, for convivial socializing on cool mountain evenings. Guests can enjoy a Jacuzzi, massage and other therapeutic services in the spa.
