Group Size
Approximately 12 Travelers
Small groups are the best way to experience nature, and this is especially true for our photography adventures. With just 12 travelers, you’re assured plenty of space and personalized attention when you need it. As a small group traveling in Nat Hab's specialty North American Safari Trucks, we maintain the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a way that maximizes photo opportunities—we'll depart early in the morning to chase the best light, remain at a site of specific photographic interest to fully explore its potential, or move to a new destination when desired. Our expert naturalist and accomplished photographer guide is always available to answer your questions, provide tips and techniques, and to help you better understand and photograph this amazing region of the world.

Physical Requirements
Easy to Moderate
Tracking wolves in Yellowstone typically occurs in snowy, icy and/or wet conditions, and temperatures can be extremely cold, often dropping well below zero at night with daytime highs in the 30s. Our days generally start before sunrise and are very full with activities. Hikes and snowshoe excursions require moderate physical exertion. They range from one to three miles in length over level ground and slight inclines, though snow and ice may create rough and/or challenging terrain conditions. In order to view Old Faithful, participants must be able to walk 300 yards over icy, snowy pavement and boardwalk. To explore Yellowstone’s geothermal basins, you must be able to walk at least one-half to one mile over ice- and snow-covered boardwalk, dirt trails and pavement. If you opt to snowshoe, you must be able to go at least one-half mile. Maximum potential distance for snowshoeing is two miles. While much of our wildlife viewing takes place from our vehicles, participants should be prepared to spend extended periods of time outside in very cold temperatures. While travelers are not required to participate in all activities, if you should opt out of any of the day’s scheduled activities, we cannot guarantee that alternatives will be available. Travelers should be aware that activities in the park occur at altitudes between 4,810 and 7,380 feet.
Important Information About This Trip
This adventure combines the rare chance to view wolves in the wild with an all-encompassing adventure in one of North America’s most renowned wildlife preserves: Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. Travelers must understand that even though to date we have had a 100 percent wolf sighting rate on our trips, these are very elusive animals and they usually do not come within close range of people. Much of our wolf viewing is done through spotting scopes to allow the wolves to go about their normal behavior. For those considering the photo tour please keep in mind that since this is a 100% wild experience the wolves are often far in the distance. However, the sheer beauty and grandeur of Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks in the winter provide remarkable nature imagery.
Mandatory Insurance
Since the areas you will travel to on this trip are remote and wild (that's why we go there!), we require medical evacuation insurance for this program. If you decline the medical evacuation insurance coverage offered by Natural Habitat Adventures, we require that you send us documentation of the independent coverage you have selected. We recommend that your chosen independent insurance plan includes at least $250,000 in medical evacuation coverage. Please note that we will add the cost of Natural Habitat Adventures' medical evacuation policy (currently $48 per person) to your tour invoice until you provide our office with proof of coverage including your insurance company's name, phone number and your individual policy number. Thank you for understanding that our policy exists exclusively in the interest of our guests' safety.

To protect your investment and to provide peace of mind while you travel, we also strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance. Plans may cover everything from medical treatment to trip cancellations and delays and lost luggage. Please contact our office if you would like more information about the medical evacuation and comprehensive travel insurance policies we offer by calling 800-543-8917.
