Deluxe Catered Camping & Classic Lodges in Grand Canyon, Bryce & Zion
The canyon country of the American West has long held a storied place in the annals of travel adventure. From John Wesley Powell to Mary Colter to Teddy Roosevelt, intrepid pioneers and everyday explorers alike have pursued the allure of these rusty landscapes. Join their ranks on this classic journey into America's canyonlands, shunning crowds by staying at our private mobile camp in a secluded area where quiet and solitude reign. Like those who have come before, we are moved by the rosy dawn and stars that shoot across the black night sky at Bryce Canyon. Walking between Zion's sandstone ramparts or surveying the layered walls of the Grand Canyon, no traveler comes away without being changed in some way: inspired, delighted, replenished, richer. That’s the gift of our national parks, and these three are among the most generous givers.

A Different Way to Experience Our National Parks
Nature travelers know some of the world's most magnificent landscapes are right here in the United States—like the national parks of the American Southwest. But they're so popular that it can be hard to experience the solitude and wonder you come for. That’s why we’re excited to share a new approach to exploring our iconic parks, featuring deluxe private tented camps away from crowds: our Safari America collection. Learn more about what makes this trip so distinctive:
An African Safari-Style Approach to the American West
We’re excited to introduce the "Safari America" idea right here in the U.S. Our secluded private camps are modeled on the concept of Africa’s fully-serviced, mobile tented camps. You’ll sleep in real beds (either two twins or a queen) in walk-in canvas tents, with a private toilet and hot showers. Dine on home-cooked meals at a table set with linens and glass dinnerware, and complemented with fine wines. It's not the kind of camping most of us grew up with!
Combine Deluxe Catered Camping & Classic Lodges
It's the perfect mix of accommodations: spend two nights camping at a secluded location on the edge of Zion National Park…plus nights in iconic, atmospheric lodges steeped in the ambience of the Old West, including the isolated Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim and historic Bryce Canyon Lodge.
Enjoy Rare Quiet and Seclusion at Our Private Campsite
We hold special permits to camp on secluded public land adjacent to Zion National Park. The setting is ideal: close to park boundaries for easy access, yet completely away from tourist crowds, traffic and noise. You’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time a century or so, surrounded only by the peace of nature.
Exclusive Nat Hab Safari Trucks—Special Pop-Top Roofs Enhance Viewing!
As on an African safari, the quality of your adventure vehicle is key to exploring America's national parks. A far cry from the typical buses other companies use, Nat Hab has crafted new Mercedes Sprinters into specialty “North American Safari Trucks.” Three double-wide pop-top roof hatches plus large side windows allow for 360-degree views of the landscape and wildlife. Every guest has a window seat and plenty of room for camera equipment and other gear. These exclusive vehicles make a big difference in your overall experience!
Small Groups Facilitate Intimate Nature Encounters
We take a maximum of just 6 guests per private safari vehicle, and a maximum of 12 guests total, which is substantially fewer than other tour companies or locally run day tours accommodate. Traveling in these smaller vehicles designed for wildlife viewing, we gain better access to remote areas that bus tours and independent visitors just don’t get to. Alongside our two NHA Expedition Leaders, we have flexibility to move quickly to areas where wildlife has most recently been spotted. And, a small group ensures that each member receives personalized attention and engagement with our Expedition Leaders.
Visit Three Parks for a Grand Southwest Survey Highlights and hidden surprises—that's what you'll experience on this high-desert sampler. At the Grand Canyon, we explore the far-less-visited North Rim, which hosts only 10 percent of all visitors to the park. And in Zion, we camp outside the park bounds, totally away from other visitors. Add the mysterious geologic wonders of Bryce Canyon for a classic trifecta, replete with steep canyons, towering hoodoos and delicate arches.
Stargaze with a Telescope Under Some of the Darkest Skies in America In this day and age, when most of us live in urban areas and light pollution obscures views of the night sky, it's a rare gift to see bright stars. And we certainly have that here, where little artificial light impacts our celestial view. When we camp at Zion, guests will have access to our high-powered telescope to examine the night sky. With help from our Expedition Leaders, get a closer look at well-known constellations and spot distant stars as we marvel at the clarity of the Milky Way overhead.
Spend Two Nights inside Grand Canyon National Park Avoiding the crowds of the South Rim, we stay inside the park at the remote and scenic North Rim. Built in 1928 and still the only lodging inside the park bounds on the North Rim, the historic Grand Canyon Lodge sits on Bright Angel Point, where its Kaibab limestone construction blends in with the natural outcroppings. It's a National Historic Landmark—the only complete surviving lodge and cabin complex in America's national parks—offering comfort and seclusion, and an atmospheric dining room overlooking the canyon.
Enjoy Historic National Park Ambience at Bryce Canyon Lodge
Though our focus is mostly on out-of-the-way accommodations, we've added nights at this venerable lodge, the only accommodation inside Bryce Canyon National Park, with ideal proximity to the rim. Recently restored to its 1920s rustic splendor, the lodge provides a feel for what it was like to visit this redrock wilderness almost a century ago.
