Ellie was born and raised in Colorado. Solidifying Ellie's bona fide roots in the Rocky Mountains, both of her parents are ski instructors and they made sure she was skiing before she could walk. Nary a snowy weekend passes when she doesn’t ski—but she plays soccer when the accessible snow disappears.
Daily encounters with students from all around the world while working at the University of Colorado Boulder solidified her inspiration for travel and all things international. Ellie majored in international affairs and technology, art and media at CU Boulder, and got her first dose of impactful ecotourism while living in Thailand and working on an elephant conservancy. She studied abroad in Granada, Spain before traveling around Europe and Africa—counting 16 countries on her travel resume before she turned 21 years old.
In addition to skiing on piste and in the backcountry, Ellie can be found backpacking, hiking, climbing or cooking during her free time. And she’s an award-winning filmmaker too, having already won top honors at a climate change film festival while she was in college.
