An Exclusive Small-Group Immersion in the Caribbean's Most Coveted Destination
Cuba is absolutely open for business!Despite what you might presume, our small-group adventures continue without a hitch to explore Cuba's natural wonders—simply the best, most intimate way to encounter the landscape and people of this culturally rich nation!
Experience Cuba’s tropical ecosystems and hospitable culture on an educational journey offering a human perspective on the natural side of this Caribbean island nation. Our very small group takes a government-approved "people-to-people" approach: meet contemporary Cubans eager to share their rich natural and cultural history, as well as details of modern life in a rapidly changing Cuba. Explore World Heritage Sites and UN Biosphere Reserves, and learn about rural life on the land as we interact with our Cuban hosts. Admire the historic treasures and colonial heritage of Cienfuegos, Trinidad and entrancing Havana. For decades, Cuba was off-limits to most U.S. citizens, but doors have opened to allow the exchange of ideas and insights with Cuban scientists, naturalists, academics, farmers, community activists, artists, business owners and more. It's an authentic Cuba travel experience with a nature focus—a Nat Hab exclusive!

What Makes Our Cuba Adventure Different from the Rest?
In 2011, the U.S. State Department began allowing American citizens to travel to Cuba for the purpose of meeting Cuban people and learning about their lives. Toward that end, Nat Hab has taken pride in crafting a unique Cuba itinerary focused on both culture and nature. Regular tourism is still not permitted for U.S. citizens, and American travel to Cuba on unauthorized programs is problematic. In keeping with the authorized mission of travel in support of the Cuban people, our journey introduces you to a diverse array of local Cubans, with a focus on Cuba's natural side and the people involved with it—a Nat Hab exclusive! See how our trip stands out:
A Cultural Trip with a Nature Focus
Our educational exchange program is unique: in addition to highlighting Cuba’s rich cultural heritage, it’s designed to provide a human perspective on the natural side of this Caribbean island nation. Discover virtually unknown national parks, botanical gardens, lush tropical ecosystems and fabulous birdlife as we talk with naturalists, researchers, park managers, wildlife biologists, organic farmers and community conservation leaders. At World Heritage Sites and UN Biosphere Reserves, learn about nature and rural life through personal interactions with our hospitable hosts—we'll even have a chance to snorkel in the Bay of Pigs.
A Small Group—Limited to Just 14 Guests—Provides a More Authentic Experience
While many visitors to Cuba are traveling in bus tour groups of 25-30 people or more, we limit our trip to 14—the smallest group size you'll find. A small group ensures more personalized encounters with our Cuban hosts, as well as a more serene experience of Cuba’s natural places, which few travelers have access to in the first place.
An Exclusive Itinerary That Takes You Where Few Can Go Our staff has spent months fine-tuning this itinerary to provide a rare experience of Cuba that few travelers have access to. A highlight is Zapata National Park, rarely visited by tourists. We’ll meet with park staff involved with caring for this vast reserve that includes tropical forest, healthy reefs and the Caribbean’s largest and most important wetland. Other opportunities to engage with the Cuban people include conversations with noted wildlife scientists and conservationists—you won’t find these opportunities elsewhere!
Spacious Vehicles Ensure Comfort and a Window Seat
While the main highways between Cuba’s major cities generally offer a comfortable journey, back roads in rural areas and national parks are often bumpy and more rugged. That’s why we have secured the highest-quality small coach for our groups—and with just 14 travelers aboard a 32-passenger vehicle, everyone gets a window seat with plenty of space to spread out. Cuba can also be hot and humid, so of course, our vehicles are air-conditioned.
Travel with Our NHA Expedition Leader—Plus a Local Cuban Guide
While some companies send their clients to Cuba in the company only of a local Cuban guide, we provide double the attention and expertise, ensuring you are accompanied every step of the way by our own NHA Expedition Leader. A highly trained professional guide with WWF resources and personal expertise about Cuba, our Expedition Leader works in tandem with your local guide to provide the most comprehensive, comfortable and caring experience available in Cuba. See Expedition Leader bios and traveler comments regarding the quality of our leaders.
