Hacienda Bambusa
Armenia, Colombia
Tucked into the Quindio district on the south side of Colombia's coffee region and surrounded by the towering Central Andes, Hacienda Bambusa is a working farm that includes more than 500 acres planted in cacao, banana, orange and pineapple. The sprawling hacienda was built out of bamboo and clay to honor the region's traditional architectural style, and its long covered porches, replete with hammocks, overlook a tranquil mountain landscape. Eight atmospheric rooms are spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings, air conditioning, screened windows, pool and garden views, plush beds sporting traditional textile accents on luxurious linens, and private en suite bathrooms that feature artisan tile work. Outdoors, this oasis of peace and natural beauty is home to more than 160 bird species, while indoors you'll find satellite television, a minibar, a room safe and Wi-Fi. Enjoy a swimming pool in the shade of 100-year-old trees and sprawling ferns.
