This special Costa Rica departure is just for women travelers. Led by a female Expedition Leader, this journey is designed to be an empowering nature adventure via a woman’s perspective. Our guide is a premier naturalist and wilderness explorer eager to share her knowledge of Costa Rica’s natural wonders and rich culture. Visit a community sea turtle hatchery to discover how grassroots leaders are helping to sustain endangered sea turtle populations. Meet local women as you stroll through the beachside village of Punta Banco and the small town of Sierpe. Learn about the threats facing Costa Rica's terrestrial and marine ecosystems—and the tireless preservation efforts of female activists and conservationists, including countless volunteers, scientists and researchers in the field. Women continue to play an essential role in protecting Costa Rica’s fragile biodiversity, and our group will gain insights into these important initiatives throughout our expedition as we support local women via ecotourism. Tour an organic orchard full of exotic tropical fruit trees and savor a traditional home-cooked lunch at the home of a local family as you learn about what life is like for women in rural Costa Rica. This journey presents a rare opportunity, among the camaraderie of women, to reflect on your discoveries through your personal passion, whether that is birdwatching, photography, writing, drawing, or collecting memories through experiential observations. You’ll return home amazed by the wild treasures you've witnessed and inspired by the women who are making critical contributions to protecting Costa Rica's biological diversity for future generations.
