It’s no wonder Patagonia has seduced photographers for as long as there have been cameras to capture its wild, poetic landscapes. Our photo expedition to the remote southern reaches of Chile and Argentina puts you in full view of some of the most iconic mountains on the planet. Granite peaks rise in spires to the sky massive glaciers flow down from the perpetual icefields that blanket Patagonia’s vast massifs. Turquoise lakes glisten, studded with drifting icebergs. Sunrise casts rosy alpenglow on the rock and ice. A host of unique Andean wildlife is at home here, too, from condors and guanacos to an island colony of squawking penguins. Small group sizes are the best way to experience nature, and this is especially true for our photographic adventures. With only 10 travelers, you’re assured of plenty of space and personalized attention when you need it. As a small group, we maintain the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a way that maximizes the photo opportunities – we'll depart early in the morning to chase the best light, remain at a site of specific photographic interest to fully explore the potential, or move to a new destination when desired. Our expert naturalist and accomplished photographer is always available to answer your questions, provide tips and techniques, and to help you better understand and photograph this amazing region of the world.
Included
Accommodations, all meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on final day, safe drinking water, wine with dinner, services of NHA Photo Expedition Leader and local staff, some gratuities, airport transfers for all arrivals and final day departures, permits and entrance fees, sales tax.
Not Included
Travel to and from start and end point of trip, alcoholic beverages (except wine with dinner), some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, souvenirs, etc.), airline baggage fees, airport reciprocity and departure taxes, optional travel insurance.

Moderate / Flexible
Our required walking activities are usually short and moderate in difficulty. However, those who can walk longer distances on more strenuous trails will gain more from this expedition. Optional longer hikes are sometimes available for those who desire. We recommend that those who participate in this trip have an adventurous spirit.
Important Information
This realm of mountains and glaciers is among the most spectacular on the planet. Most visitors to Patagonia trek and camp to take advantage of the natural splendors the area offers, yet our specially designed trip, utilizing atmospheric, well-appointed hotels and lodges, puts us amid some of Patagonia’s most splendid scenery in genuine comfort. In order to experience the region most fully, please be prepared for some long drives. Some challenging but optional hikes are also recommended in order to access some of the most scenic areas.
Our Patagonia Photo Expedition is an Exploratory Adventure. Exploratory Adventures are programs in which a select small group of travelers joins us on an exhilarating inaugural journey to a new destination, or to a known destination with a new itinerary. While Exploratory Adventures tend to be very exciting (and often include surprises of which even we are unaware), we ask travelers to “go with the flow” and expect the unexpected. These adventures are for those true explorers who enjoy a free-spirited adventure, as the itinerary will most likely continue to change and develop. This flexibility in our itinerary allows us to provide the best travel opportunities within each region. Exploratory Adventures may be canceled by NHA if we deem it necessary, and they require a minimum of five travelers to guarantee departure. We hope you will join us as we explore a truly thrilling new adventure off the beaten path!
Getting There & Getting Home
Please arrive in El Calafate, Argentina no later than 6pm on Day 1 as we will have a welcome/orientation dinner at 8pm. Passengers are free to depart Punta Arenas, Chile anytime on the final day. We can best serve you if Natural Habitat Adventures’ Travel Desk makes these reservations for you, as we are intimately familiar with the special requirements of these programs and can arrange the most efficient and cost-effective transportation.
