Location of Adventure
Botswana, Southern Africa
Group Size Limit
Approximately 8 Travelers
Small groups are the best way to experience nature, and this is especially true for our photography adventures. With a group of this size, you’re assured of plenty of space and personalized attention when you need it. As a small group, we maintain the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a way that maximizes the photo opportunities – we'll depart early in the morning to chase the best light, remain at a site of specific photographic interest to fully explore the potential, or move to a new destination when desired. Our expert naturalist and accomplished photographer is always available to answer your questions, provide tips and techniques, and to help you better understand and photograph this amazing region of the world.
Our Specialized 4x4 Land Rovers and Land Cruisers
An essential element of this safari is our use of specialized 4x4 vehicles, facilitating unmatched wildlife viewing opportunities. Typically, we use open 4x4 Land Rovers, with a unique suspension system and an open-top, open-sided, tiered seating arrangement designed to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities and comfort. On occasion, we will use 4x4 Stretch Land Cruisers with a similar design. During the green season, it is common to have a shade net over the vehicle to provide sun protection and cover during the rains. This protective net comes off during the cooler summer months in Botswana to allow the sun to warm us on morning and afternoon drives.

Vehicles have 10 cushioned passenger seats — one in front next to the driver, followed by three rows of three seats each —though we limit our capacity to 4 travelers per vehicle during our wildlife drives, again for maximum comfort, viewing and photo opportunities. Vehicles offer a mini-fridge stocked with cold drinks and a small library with reference books and field guides. Each custom-built vehicle sports front bull bars and runner boards, as well as a full recovery kit, including spare tires and a high-lift jack. Vehicles are updated or replaced regularly and meticulously maintained to provide our guests with an outstanding safari experience.
Our Private Leaders
Included
Internal scheduled light aircraft flights, additional capacity on charter flights (for camera gear, computers, etc), accommodations, airport transfers on Day 1 and final day, meals from dinner Day 1 to breakfast final day, non-alcoholic drinks at camps and in vehicles, house alcoholic beverages in camps, services of NHA Expedition Leader (specific leaders subject to change), local guides and lodge staff, some gratuities, all permits, entrance fees and taxes.
Not Included
Travel to and from start and end point of trip, premium alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, souvenirs, etc.), airline baggage fees, airport and departure taxes, optional travel insurance, and required medical evacuation insurance.
Physical Requirements
Easy
There is no strenuous activity involved during this safari, though a safari vehicle frequently offers a bumpy ride. Wildlife drives often involve long hours of sitting and sometimes bouncing around. While we don't consider this strenuous, it can be uncomfortable and pose a particular type of physical demand on the body. All travelers must be able to climb into and out of the raised 4x4 trucks that we use for safari vehicles. They must also be able to walk to and from the vehicle to our camp accommodations, which sometimes involves walking over uneven ground or on boardwalks. Safari accommodations and vehicles are not climate controlled and, depending on the seasonality, temperatures can range from quite cold to extremely hot so it is critical that travelers come prepared. Additionally, while any short walks are considered optional (and may not be available, depending on water conditions), you will get the most out of your safari if you can walk a mile or two over uneven ground without assistance. We recommend that all travelers have an adventurous spirit, as they will often enjoy the closest animal encounters.
Important Information About This Trip
Changes to the itinerary may occur in order to take advantage of conditions unique to the season and/ or accommodate unexpected changes in water levels; therefore, itineraries may need to be rerouted or redesigned without notice.
Mandatory Insurance
Since the areas we travel to on this trip are remote and wild (that's why we go there!), we require medical evacuation insurance for our guests' safety. If you decline the medical evacuation insurance coverage offered by Natural Habitat, we request that you send us documentation of the independent coverage you have selected. We will add the cost of a medical evacuation policy to your tour invoice until you provide our office with proof of coverage including your insurance company's name, contact number and your individual policy number. Thank you for understanding that our policy exists exclusively in the interest of our guests' safety.
