Wild Panama

Exploring Panama from coast to coast

Trip Overview
  • Cruise the Panama Canal to Gatun Lake, spotting wildlife along the reainforest's edge
  • Look for brightly plumed quetzals in the highlands and spot macaws in the Darién
  • Explore the Caribbean archipelago of Bocas del Toro by land and by sea

The emergence of the Isthmus of Panama over 300 million years ago remains one of the most significant events in the evolutionary history of the Western Hemisphere. This integral land bridge has allowed thousands of different species to migrate between North and South America and is home to a staggering array of unique wildlife, paralleled by few places on earth. Unlike other more touristed Latin American destinations, Panama’s dense rainforests, misty highlands and pristine beaches remain largely unspoiled. Join us on this genuine adventure to discover Wild Panama, the natural jewel in the heart of the Americas.

Location of Adventure

Panama, Central America

Group Size Limit: Approximately 14 Travelers
A very important feature of our Wild Panama eco travel adventure is the limited group size as nature travel expeditions are best experienced with smaller groups of travelers.

Included
Internal flights as described in the itinerary, accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on final day, bottled water, services of NHA Expedition Leader, local guides and lodge staff, some gratuities, airport transfers on Day 1 and final day, permits and entrance fees, all taxes.

Not Included
Travel to and from start and end point of trip, alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, laundry, etc.), airport and departure taxes, optional travel insurance.

Physical Requirements

Moderate / Flexible
This itinerary contains a number of moderate hikes over wet, slippery and uneven terrain with some steep inclines. Nature walks in Volcan and Boquete are at higher altitude, and those in Cana may be in humid conditions. We stress that all activities are optional.

Important Information about This Trip

Panama is one of Latin America’s most astounding natural treasures, home to a plethora of wildlife, yet its natural areas receive a fraction of the visitors neighboring Costa Rica gets. Panama’s highlands and jungle wilderness offer an unparalleled immersion in nature well off more touristed routes.

Getting There & Getting Home
You should plan to arrive in Panama City on Day 1 before 6 pm, in order to reach our hotel in time for a 7 pm orientation and welcome dinner. On Day 10 of the program you are free to depart Panama City at any time. We are prepared to handle your round-trip travel arrangements from your home to Panama City. We can best serve you if Natural Habitat Adventures’ Travel Desk makes these reservations for you, as they are intimately familiar with the special requirements of this program and can arrange the most efficient and cost-effective travel.
