Wedged between two oceans and two continents, Costa Rica is home to some of the greatest biodiversity on earth: gigantic ferns, orchids, neonbilled toucans, three-toed sloths, monkeys, peccaries, crocodiles, iguanas and frogs, just for starters. We encounter it up close with a variety of exciting family safe activities: rafting down the Sarapiqui River on a Costa Rican river cruise, riding horseback through the jungle, flying through the forest on a zip-line, and playing in the turquoise ocean. Group Size Limit: Approximately 14 Travelers
A very important feature of our Family Costa Rica travel adventures is the limited group size, as educational nature expeditions with children are best experienced with smaller groups of travelers.

Included
Transportation within your expedition (except during time at Paradisus Playa Conchal), internal flight, airport transfers on first and final day, accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on the final day, all park fees, services of NHA's professional Expedition Leader through Day 6, and gratuities for airport transfers provided by NHA, baggage portage, and meals served as part of the tour (except during stay at Paradisus Playa Conchal). Based on group size and participant age, a Youth Coordinator/Expedition Leader may be added to the expedition.

Paradisus Playa Conchal is an all-inclusive resort, meaning that all meals, drinks, and some activities at the hotel are included. Tours and activities outside of the hotel are not included. Equipment rental fees may also apply.

Not Included
Travel to and from San Jose, soda, beer, liquor, items of a personal nature (laundry, telephone, etc.), services of Expedition Leader and vehicle during stay at Paradisus Playa Conchal, gratuities for Expedition Leader and local guides and gratuities during stay at Paradisus Playa Conchal, travel insurance, national and international airport departure taxes (if any). (See note about Paradisus Playa Conchal above for more specific exclusions).

Physical Requirements
Easy / Moderate / Flexible
Our Youth Coordinator will plan your family’s activities to your family’s desired activity level. This trip does not require a high degree of physical fitness, although a fair number of short walks may be involved. All activities are optional. Travelers should be aware that the heat and humidity may be very high and roads may be bumpy.

Getting There & Getting Home
Arrive anytime on Day 1 - a welcome dinner is scheduled for approximately 7pm. On the final day, travelers may depart from either Liberia International Airport, approximately an hour's drive from Paradisus Playa Conchal, or they may depart from San Jose. Please schedule flights departing after 12:00 noon on the final day out of San Jose. Due to flight schedules, some travelers may need to book an extra night in San Jose. Because travelers departing from Liberia do not need to take the included internal flight to San Jose on the final day, they will be offered a $100 per person discount on the price of the trip. We can best serve you if Natural Habitat Adventures’ Travel Desk makes these reservations for you as they are intimately familiar with the special requirements of these programs and can arrange the most efficient and cost-effective travel. Age Limits on Family Trips
We generally welcome children ages six and older on all of our family expeditions. However, while some six-year-olds are well-suited for some or all of our family adventures, others may not be ready for the requirements of group travel. For this reason, we believe that it is more useful to consider this age limit a guideline rather than a hard and fast rule. We believe that you, as a parent or guardian, are best qualified to decide whether or not your child would enjoy the experience without compromising the comfort of others. We strongly encourage to you call our office to speak with an Adventure Travel Specialist about the specific requirements of the trip you're considering so that you can make an informed decision about your child's participation. We are unable to allow children younger than six on these scheduled departures due to safety regulations, physical limitations, and concerns regarding group dynamics.

Travelers departing from Liberia International Airport on the final day will not need to fly to San Jose, and will receive a $100 per person discount on the cost of the trip.

While this trip is available on a customized basis, pricing only applies to scheduled trips listed. Pricing for custom trips will be determined based on group size and dates, and increases should be expected during non-summer months.

Prices are per person based on double occupancy, unless otherwise indicated, and are given in US Dollars. Fees may increase for departures after October 2009.
